Re: I got Trafalgar Halls! But what do the numbers mean?
I've been on 7th floor of Trafalgar and it looks really cramped in, as well as the kitchen area, the rooms are really small (if i was to guess, the dimensions of the room I looked at seem to be length of 4m and width of 3m. But the worst accommodation I looked at is Harry Law hall which allows 8 students to occupy same flat and the kitchen is only fit for 5 students at the most, how do they cope, that's what I don't want to know.
The virtual tour probably uses produced photographs from over 5 years ago and look over-exaggerated in comparison to viewing in real life.
If you see Harry Law kitchens as being really cramped with a table at the back in the virtual tour, that is exactly what it looks like. You'd have better kitchens in private houses. -
I'm sure Trafalgar isn't as bad as you're describing it, I did hear that a lot of rooms are actually different sizes (bigger rooms are the ones at the back of each flat) and kitchen size varies too. I've heard James Watson rooms are almost identical to Trafalgar too.. So I guess it might just be a pot of luck as to what your flat would be like since it apparently varies so much.(Original post by nmr1991)

Re: I got Trafalgar Halls! But what do the numbers mean?to be fair most accommodation is gonna be the same unless you get like the full floor to yourself at langstone. that's pretty standard for a uni room plus hopefully we won't be cooped up in our rooms all the time.(Original post by nmr1991)

I don't think so, but you have to get your own bed sheets. I think they check the mattresses before the new students move in.(Original post by Jetblast)
Another question which shows my stupidity: Are the mattresses they provide new/unused?

Re: I got Trafalgar Halls! But what do the numbers mean?So you had a studio apartment at Trafalgar because thats what ive been given for my 1st year. And i havent found anyone else who is. Is the place good, as the kitchen looks small and ive kinda got that it doesnt have a freezer or oven :/(Original post by Politics Student)
You should do.
Just noticed an error I was floor 13 not 11. Still the location of your flat is close to were mine was 13, 19. So you should have a good view.
I had a friend in a different halls of residents in Portsmouth who had a view of a brick wall about a metre away from his window. He was just damn unlucky on his room position.
Probably me being overly nervous! :P -
Re: I got Trafalgar Halls! But what do the numbers mean?I liked the studio flat personally.(Original post by nikki_starkey)

You will lack the community feel of the shared flat area but also avoid all the drama. Just be prepared to make friends on the course and in societies. So you should be fine.
It has a freezer in the fridge. It is small but should be plenty of room if you remove packaging and use freezer bags.
No oven which surprised me, but I got by just fine without it.
Don't Panic. All will be fine.
