Afternoon all
Hi there folks. Seems to be the done thing to create a new thread to introduce yourself, so I'm Alan. Scottish, 28, moving to Plymouth in September to start my PGCE Secondary (English). Just starting to set in that I'll only be in Scotland for another couple of months, which is a weird thought.
Anyway, I'm a sarcastic sort (which went down well in Mexican classrooms, not sure it'll work as well here...) who likes his sport, films and computer games. Got myself a degree in English and Philosophy, currently boning up on the English curriculum and the various texts involved. So far I'm dreading trying to make Wuthering Heights interesting, but Wilkie Collins is really very good.
What else...I love comics, my only real online posting has been at websites like Comicbook Resources so think of this as branching out a little, ha. -
Re: Afternoon allDon't worry too much about reading 'key texts' (unless you want to) - I've just finished my English PGCE and didn't have to teach OMAM, WH or Shakespeare once!(Original post by Shabbasnake)

Re: Afternoon allGood to know, thanks. I've been expecting to start behind since we spend so much time on Scottish writers in Scotland.(Original post by jaime1986)
