    DayZ (ArmA II mod)
Just been reading up on this - it looks really good! Anyone played it? I'd have to also shell out £15 on ArmA II itself + expansion but would it be worth it?

I'd say it is worth it

Just a warning though: It can be very frustrating if you've spent the past 1.5 hours running without seeing a single living thing just to be spotted by a zombie and get mauled to death within seconds

I haven't played it myself, but I certainly would like to in the near future. I've watched a 'Let's Play' of it, and it does look like a fun game. It seems to do a good job of giving you that sense of doubt over whether to trust people or not, and whether they trust you. Similar to what you see in The Walking Dead etc. Would be good to play with people you know so that you can work together with people you trust.

Ahhh sorry i didnt see this thread, delete mine.

And i like it a lot, zombies are not a problem at all and easy kills once you know how to play. Bandit players are the real fear, a city of elektro is always surrounded by bandit snipers and bandits scavenging. Also the lack of trust in other plays is so low, users just shoot on sight.

It would be great if when you spoke on a headset people within a vicinity could hear you - unless this already exists? Still considering getting ArmA II for this - if I am successful in my job interview and start getting a bit of money in I think I will

Already exists, i saw someone looting and took the chance to shoot them. only to hear them yell. "FRIENDLY FRIENDLY." as i killed him.. felt kind of bad but, they are hostile unless they say otherwise.

They have different types of chat, a global and local. Global all can see/hear you on mic or type. Local is only close range in the area, good for when you spot someone and want to ask if they are friendly or not. Though the amount of times you see people say where they are in global chat is painful.. and soon followed by "OMG SOMEONE SHOT ME."

    Yes it's definitely worth it.

It takes a bit of work/patience due to it being in Alpha and it's difficulty in itself --> You can spend 4 hours finding a sniper rifle, feeling like a badass and then killed by a glitchy door lol

Play with a friend with voice chat who has played it before to get used to things, it only gets fun on solo when you start getting some serious loot

Seriously good attempt at simulating a "real-life" zombie apocalypse (bar a few minor things)

I've put an obscene amount of time into this game...been playing since early June.

Great, great game. I love the constant paranoia. The ups and downs. And everything-to-lose aspects.

Got a vent server (and occasionally, a DayZ 50/35 slot server) if anyone wants to team up and play. Could do with some peeps on British time.

Do you have a steam ID/skype name? I play on UK servers during the day quite often

Played this mod all of today with some friends, on our way to building a car! We usually play on LU15.

Should probably mention that this mod is so immense!

I evade other players, kill zombies and spend hours getting really good gear.

Then I fall literally 10cm off a ladder and break my legs.

    Bad game T_T

It's in Alpha Although the Arma interface is pretty clunky (coming from an Arma/Arma II player)

It makes a change from CoD anyway and there's not really anything like it on the games market at the minute.

I was thinking of getting ArmA II on the Steam sale but saw this: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/n...aft-model.html

Think I might hold off and see what happens with that!

£15 on Arma (well £10ish on Operation Arrowhead, I bought Arma II ages ago previously before DayZ) and I REGRET NOTHING. I'll get my £15 worth before September all right.
