I`m knew to UCAS + clearing
I`m a foreigner (EU citizen) and i know absolutely nothing about this whole system you have in the UK, but i`d still like to attend an UK Uni.

Can someone enlighten me?.. i`m told the only chance i have now is through a clearing.

I have literally no clue where to begin....

UCAS Extra is an option! Take a look at unis and courses in extra (on the UCAS course search website), email the unis you're interested in, etc.

It's too late to use Extra now. You've got to have used your original five choices and have no offers to be eligible for Extra, and the final deadline for those original choices was June 30th, so at this stage Clearing is the only option for 2012 entry.

It's not too late. I'm not particular familiar with the details of student finance but I believe you might just get your first payment from student finance a bit late.

Oh dear sorry OP. Can i just ask something..I emailed Cardiff (who I've firmed for History) a few weeks ago asking if they are taking apicants for of History and English, only now I've noticed their reply (junk mail ) so they are still taking on applicants so I'm about to email them regarding a change in course, this is alright isn't it?

I don't know of any reason it wouldn't be allowed, it's just up to Cardiff to decide if they're happy to change the course your offer is for. It's possible they won't have any spaces but there's no harm in asking. You could also ask again on results day, and when you go there to start the course, as it's possible that other people dropping out, missing offers or changing course would free up places on the one you want to do that weren't available earlier.

There's nothing that I know of preventing it within the UCAS mechanism.

15th July? No, that's not late at all - Clearing starts around about now, but the bulk of it will happen on and shortly after August 16th because that's when the A-level students (who do make up the majority of UCAS applicants) get their results.

Bear in mind that this may also mean that universities will be unable to give you a definitive answer until then because they don't yet know if and how many spaces they have.
