Do You Throw Away Books Or Keep Them?
Just curious as to what other TSR users do with their fiction. Particularly, if you've bought a book you don't like for whichever reason do you still keep it or throw it away? Or something else, like sell it on eBay or Amazon?

I'd either keep the book if I really liked it, or otherwise give it to an Oxfam or other charity book seller.

I keep certain ones and some I sell on or donate. Text books I usually sell on to other students.

Up to now I've kept all my books or given them to younger siblings, but I'm now thinking of putting some up on eBay so I can clear out my stuff before I got to uni being that I rarely read the same book twice anyway

Keep, donate or give to a friend- if they like it, they can keep it.
    Same with CD's.

Throw books... away? As in like, away away? In the bin away?

Why would you do such a thing? Give them to someone else who might appreciate it by all means, but throw it in the bin? I can't understand why someone would do such a thing.

Ok if the book in question is Twilight I'd say that you have a point, but I'd at least try to flog it on eBay as opposed to actually throw it away.

I'd never throw a book away - there are people who would love books/an education who can't afford it. So once I'm done with a book I donate it to a charity shop/library or those swapping schemes at uni (and other places) where you can take any book you like and keep it so long as you put one of yours on the shelf.

Throw them away? :'( The thought of throwing a book away makes me upset haha!

I keep most of my books, unless it's something truly dire in which case I give it to a friend where I know it will be in good hands :') I love my books too much to ever throw them away, even if they're rubbish

I have never ever thrown a book away even those I didn't like. That idea has just never crossed my mind. I usually just give it to a charity cause they're always looking for books or most of the time I just give it to a friend.

Pretty much this. The idea of actually physically throwing a book away, like in a bin, is just wrong on so many levels.

I keep books I like and occasionally sell some of my old ones on Amazon.co.uk

It feels wrong to throw a book away. If I am done with a book I always give it to a charity. For some reason I couldn't even think about throwing a book away!

so far I've never thrown a book away, though I'm considering selling on some textbooks I don't need anymore before uni for some extra cash. I've given away books before :dontknow:

I would never throw a book away, there's always someone that could use them.I still have books from uni and I left there over 5 years ago.

Throw books away? Really, that's unforgivably wasteful. Would it not do more good to give them away?

I'm not saying I've ever thrown them away! Far from, in fact; I usually borrow from my local library so I return it if I don't like and if I buy a book and don't want to keep it I just hand it over to my cousins.

Does anyone keep their books, though, with the intention of having their own library of sorts?

As with my films, I always keep my books. Generally speaking, if it doesn't sound like it appeals to me then I won't buy it. Same with films

I keep it. I have given away many though when I have moved etc.

I also tend to lend people books (fiction or otherwise) forget and thus never get them back unless the person remembers.

I either bin them if they're far too tatty and ruined-pages missing, spines coming apart etc etc or give them to charity shops when I'm done with them.
The only books I really keep are the ones I'll read again and again, I've got some books on my shelf I've had for about eight years or so.
