Re: Van Persie confirms he WILL NOT extend his contract. The only reason Arsenal are in this situation is because we've recently built the most expensive club stadium ever and tied ourselves to low sponsorship deals to fund it. The Emirates is a very clear declaration of ambition IMO and we'll start seeing the rewards in the near future.(Original post by Jim-Jam)
We've sold Alonso, Mashcerano, Torres, maybe Arbeloa (Though Johnson's just as good or better) and Kuyt.
You've sold Ashley Cole, Clichy, Kolo Toure, Adebayor, Nasri, Fabregas, soon to be Van Persie.
Stop making the point about Liverpool and ignoring the fact that your club has no ambition.
Where the **** are Liverpool going? Midtable with no long term strategy whatsoever? Do me a favour...

Re: Van Persie confirms he WILL NOT extend his contract. It's funny. How many Champion League's have you won again?(Original post by Peggles_*)
We've sold those players and still managed to maintain our top four status, Liverpool however, not so much.
You haven't finished in the top four in donkey's years and have players like Downing and Carroll on your books.
So as a Liverpool fan, you can't really talk can you? I mean Sigurdsson turned you lot down for Tottenham. That's right, Tottenham.
Ouch. -

I feel sorry for arsenal fans, especially as they stuck with him whilst he was injured all those years, but the guy is world class and you cannot just replace him, but the way he announced his departure just makes him go cheaper in the market, and hurts arsenal more.

Re: Van Persie confirms he WILL NOT extend his contract.LOL we've won more European Cups than you've won Premier Leagues, so you can't really pull that one.(Original post by manchesterunited15)

We're planning on updating Anfield, we've got new owners who have a specific plan and want to succeed, hence the new manager and aim for young players etc. We just sacked a manager who was the club's best ever player despite him getting to two finals and winning one. Think we're 'ambitious' -

Re: Van Persie confirms he WILL NOT extend his contract.
Amazing how pointing out another clubs problems your own suddenly disappear.
Oh wait..
You can say LFC are in a bad position which yes is undeniably true, but lets face it we will have some investment, which will get a decent striker in which was really the reason we did anywhere near as bad as last season was.
If we had someone who could kick a ball in a certain direction instead of Carrol loafing around and Suarez's obsession with wood we would still have been in for 4th. The last Arsenal V LFC game was just an example of the obvious, we make tons of chances, dominate possession and have like 20 shots on goal and can't score 1. Arsenal have, what was it 3 credible chances and score 2?
Now you lost the one guy who really saved you in those games and the best player in your team and we keep all our important players and will only get better ones in with a more competent manager. Not to mention we lost what ended up being a pivotal player to our midfield (Arsenal should know only too well how injuries hinder the team) and we had pretty much no players on form apart from Daniel Agger (who got injured) and Skrtel and Glen Johnson somewhat. We can simply only get better.
Need I say more about who is in a better position?
Van Persie essentially papered over many cracks in the team, but Arsenal have done okay to fill what would have been a gaping whole left by Van Persie.
Though Podolski is no Van Persie, so don't expect him to save you the way Van Persie did.
Personally I don't think Arsenal will do anything great this year but ofc Arsenal doing what they do best will probably bounce back and still be competitive.
Most likely it will just be a battle for 4th between Arsenal, LFC, Totthenam (Depending on what happens to Modric and Bale), Newcastle and Chelsea if they do the fail of the century (which would only serve the grimey Russian money grabber right).
Although it's nearly 4am and I might be talking out of my ass, so take it all with a pinch of salt.
Nonetheless I would be happy to see the last of him, so we see what Arsenal are actually made out of.Last edited by So Instinct; 05-07-2012 at 03:53.
