I don't care about the total number, I care more about getting 1000/1000 or the platinum trophy on each game I play, Ie I'm a completionist. However this approach does mean I have a ridiculously high gamerscore...(almost four times yours)

About 4,000 I think. I've never cared much about it, or getting achievements

    10,577.

And I couldn't care less. I do like going for some of the more interesting achievements though.

20440. I suppose I don't really care about achievements too much. I'll get them if they are somewhat easy but I wouldn't go out of my way to any single achievement *coughSeriously2.0cough*

One of my friends has 47885 but he plays video games way too much.

    I think it's about 57000, I'm a bit of a completionist.

I'm about ~22000 - I kind of care. It depends on the game, really. and the nature of the achievements.

I think the only games I've 100% on are Assassin's Creed II and Deus Ex: HR.

My gamerscore is just under 48,500, and I've had my 360 since April 08. I do like to get as many of the achievements as I can on games I enjoy, but I won't go out of my way to buy games with easy achievements just to increase my gamerscore. I've not been on my 360 much at all this year, so it's only risen by about 1,000 since January.

As far as my friends' gamerscores go, they range from 5,000 to about 190,000.
