Incident on M6 Toll - Any ideas?
Anyone else heard about this? Coach has been stopped on the M6 Toll Road and all passengers were evacuated by armed police.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10318089

I'm thinking something anti-terrorism related considering the cordon around the coach/number of emergency vehicles present (whole of West Midlands fire service seems to be out in force ).

    EDIT: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...ds-London.html

Apparently a passenger was reportedly seen pouring liquid into a smoking bag. Probably some poor guy trying to do his lunch :holmes:

Someone just posted this on facebook because it's near where we live. Could just be a lot of caution over nothing, guess we won't know until any information is released.

It amuses me that the newsreader on BBC news described it as a very bus road. She's obviously never driven on the toll.

So, rather than a smoking gun, we have a smoking bag. What is the betting it turns out to be a passenger pouring milk into his flask of hot coffee?

Or a guy pouring hot water from a thermos into his pot noodle

On another note - the army's here!

Well they've just sent EOD onto the bus, it would amuse me if it were just that or a pot noodle.

If I were sat in a car trapped in the queue, having taken that route to guarantee a timely arrival at an important business meeting in the south, I might be rather less amused.

I'm surprised they haven't tried to block the camera's view by putting up canvas or something.

You do realise that if it wasn't headed to London, there wouldn't be all of this hubbub. Imagine if it was headed from London to south preston - there certainly wouldn't be this much activity.

Can't anybody realise that it is olympic-related and that forces around the country are on full alert?

Better to be safe than sorry I guess.

Looks chemical related what with the decontamination tents, etc.

All those cars on the road.... it's the busiest the M6 toll has ever been :ahee:

Or a failed Megabus advertisement campaign :erm:

I think with the eyewitness accounts the news are getting its unlikely it was just a bit of steam from a flask.

And now Bomb Disposal. I'm sure it really isn't anything or they would have moved the cordons way, way back. It's just a bit of standing on one's tip-toes with the Olympics round the corner and all.

    Pretty scary.

Glad they got the buggers (if it turns out it is terror related) before anything bad could happen.

    Wel scratch that

Yes, the owner of the coffee, or someone sitting next to him, could have suffered minor scalds if he had poured it just as the bus went over a bump.
