So yeah, the question is simple. What, in your view, makes someone an interesting person? Is it someone who can tell funny anecdotes, someone who has experienced other cultures...?

And what makes a person boring? I personally think being called "boring" is one of the worst insults possible!

I think its subjective, depends on what YOU find interesting/funny or boring. Like say I said I was interested in Ancient Egypt, but you wasn't, you might say I'm a boring person.

I agree with Em, it's mainly quite subjective. If someone isn't boring to you, then it's because there's something about them that interests you, but that same thing, someone else couldn't care less about. So if someone is seen as boring, it would usually be no more than an opinion - because somebody else could disagree.

I think most people are relatively similar in terms of how interesting/boring they are.

The distinction people make between the two groups is based on how one engages other people and expresses their interesting features.

I don't know. Being funny. What I find funny varies depending on the weather, time of day, how much sleep I've had and how much alcohol/sugar I've consumed.

It depends on how interesting you find what they are interested in. Also, if the majority of people have the person in the "boring" stereotype, then you'll probably presume they're boring, even if you actually would find them interesting.

But someone can bore you by just talking incessantly at you about their life.

I think being interesting depends on who's listening, but you can avoid being boring by paying attention to the people around you, and acting accordingly. So picking up a conversation if it's slowing down, but not dragging it kicking and screaming if no-one wants to listen.

An interesting person for me, is someone whom I have a desire to get to know more. although I don't think there's an interesting/boring definition line. Different people are interesting at different times I suppose.

Yea Day[9] can get real boring when hes banging on about timing attacks for 2 hours. That episode where he was talking incessantly about his life was great though

I work at a gym. Half my conversations now start with "So I was at the gym today". Cue amusing anecdote about antics at work (Well, I think they're funny).

Same. Somebody who sits there and is a very private person and won't tell you a single thing about their life is boring. But someone who tells you about their life is interesting. I love learning about other people.

i think generally, funny people are usually considered interesting?
personally, if you can make me laugh without trying, its a done deal. i will automatically find you interesting and want to be around you. also, i've noticed funny people also are always happy which is a plus. if you're always looking glum or sad then i'm more likely to label you under 'boring'. and just to clarify, i dont mean like if someone is clearly just having a bad day 'sad' as opposed to someone who is constantly moody or anti-social (which is what im referring to)
