UCAS Adjustment: Will there be medicine places?????
Hi guys,
I originally wanted to do medicine but didn't think I would get the grades. UCAS have introduced a new thing this year called adjustment, where if you exceed your grades you can apply for a different course with higher entry requirements. My question is, do you think there will be any medicine places? -
Re: UCAS Adjustment: Will there be medicine places?????Obviously no one knows for certain until the unis know how many people meet the offer come results day. However, it seems highly unlikely that a Med School is going to have a significant number of spaces free.(Original post by kpmarshall)

Also, for Medicine there's all the interview, vaccinations etc. to go through before they can confirm a place.
In short, it's very very unlikely. -

But to answer your question, no, there is pretty much zero chance of using Adjustment to get into medicine. If there's a uni with a handful of spare places they might potentially offer them to people they've already interviewed but who narrowly missed out, which I believe isn't completely unheard of, but even that is extremely unlikely. -
Re: UCAS Adjustment: Will there be medicine places?????Hi, i have a question about applying the next year.(Original post by cpdavis)
The only scenario there was was a place at Liverpool about 3 years ago (and that was the only one overall)
If you do better then expected, apply next year
I have conditional offers for a Genetics course but i only applied for insurance. As in there's a chance i wont meet the requirements for medicine in my final exams. As we all know we have to make choices by a deadline which is before my actual exams so i will have a firm and insurance choice. So aren't insurance choices binding?
Heres a quote from the UCAS adjustment website "If you don't find an alternative place before your Adjustment period ends, you will remain accepted at your original university or college."
I dont want to be stuck in a 4 year course which i don't really have as much of a passion for. :/ Help? -
Re: UCAS Adjustment: Will there be medicine places?????You shouldn't have put it as your insurance then. If you'd rather have a gap year and reapplt if you miss your grades then leave the insurance blank or put a different medicine course(Original post by kennide)
