I want to move all my data off of my USB data stick to an external hard drive, I can move empty folder quite happily, however as soon as I try to move a folder with any files in, despite it being aout 10 photos, my laptop freezes up and the trasfer rate goes down to 0kb/second. What do I do? Do I need a new laptop, I have the R700 by samsung, I am pretty sure its a discontinued model now anyway, it works fine and is reasonably fast up until recently, but recently its turned into a heap of ****.

Update the drivers for everything, then transfer the data first into the laptop, than move it over from the laptop on the external drive
