NHS summer work!
Discussion about all kinds of temporary work, for Saturday jobs to summer holidays and gap years. Please note: not the place for advertising job opportunities.

NHS summer work!
Two weeks into my holiday and I'm bored stiff somehow. So I thought I'd find a job preferably in the NHS to keep me busy. I live in Bolton and have looked for jobs as a Phlebotomist or healthcare assistant over summer but I can't seem to find any in Bolton or in Manchester either.
Could someone give me some form of advise on how to apply for an NHS job or even what it's like to work in one of these posts?
P.S I've applied to medicine hence the whole NHS malarkey -
Re: NHS summer work!
Hi,
Your best bet for NHS temp work is through an agency. Call a few recruitment agencies in your area and explain what you are looking for (NHS work) and see what they can do. Usually the NHS hyave one or two preferred agencies in every trust, so do your research (ring different agencies, ask the NHS trusts who they use etc.).
The NHS jobs website will have jobs for your area but don't often have many temp or fixed term roles.
As you are only looking for summer or part time work, you would really stand a better chance of admin within the NHS. This would give you initial experience to build on whilst you study. I assume you have no previous experience within the NHS and therefore getting a temp healthcare assistant role is very unlikely.
Good luck x -
