Artists that can't sing but are still awesomeAccording to a most of my friends, my music taste is awful because the artists I choose to listen to 'can't sing'. I've tried to explain to them that for me this isn't important. I'm much more concerned with the lyrics/message of a song and sometimes a certain voice just fits the music regardless of whether they can sing or not.
Maybe, 'can't sing' is a tad strong but this thread is for you to share the weird, the wonderful and the downright strange artists that you love but would have a hard time winning a singing contest. I shall put forward 2 candidates.
Craig Finn
Lead singer of Lifter Puller and The Hold Steady, known for his clever lyrics and being one of the most dynamic front men in modern day rock 'n roll. A tendency to shout his lyrics but God, he's amazing.
Aidan John Moffat
Described by many as one of the most influential indie bands of the 90's. Arab Strap were lead by Moffat, with his brutally honest and overtly sexual lyrics all delivered with a rough Scottish accent. One of my favouite singers/bands of all time.
Oh, and before someone thinks their a comedian. Please do not include Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, One Direction, Nicki Minaj etc. This is about artists that can't sing but are still brilliant... not artists that can't sing but get auto tuned and still sound awful.

Re: Artists that can't sing but are still awesomeLily Allen. She's got some singing talent but she's not amazing. However, she makes up for it with interesting lyrics and the ability to catch your attention. There's singers out there who I reckon are somewhat similar, but few match up to Lily Allen.
There's also a singer called Ayria who isn't the best vocalist ever, but her music is excellent and lyrically she's really cool. She's also got a ton of musical experience and the industrial beats probably disguise the weaker vocals. -

The Stone Roses are one of my favourite bands, but Ian Brown can't sing.
He's amazing though

Paul Weller (Lead singer of the Jam/The Style Council)
Billy Bragg - Proper ****e, but great songs.
He's pretty good at singing live in my opinion. -

Re: Artists that can't sing but are still awesomeI've got every single one of his songs, and he isn't really a good enough singer to make records and get number 1s. He's actually a very good live artist but whenever I play the music out loud every comments that he's tone deaf. -

Dave Mustaine, but I like his snarl.
Bob Dylan
David Bowie's voice sounds off on some songs, though he's pretty phenomenal most of the time.
