Buzzcocks vocalist, Pete Shelley. 'Ever Fallen In Love' is still one of my favourite songs though.
You could pretty much reel off any of the traditional punk bands, because in a strange way, the worse you were at singing, the better you were at singing. -
Re: Artists that can't sing but are still awesomeI read this wrong the first time, thought it said 'Kurt Cobain easily trumps Dave Grohl'. It made me slightly sad as I am a massive Foos fan and think Dave has a beautiful voice(Original post by ConnorB)
I'm not saying he's terrible, but Kurt Cobain vocally is easily trumped by Dave Grohl -
Re: Artists that can't sing but are still awesomeOzzy Osbourne was a fantastic singer back in the day. Could hit the high notes and the low ones. His voice is shot now admittedly.(Original post by fnm)
Ozzy Osbourne. Even Iommi has said it.
and whoever said Ian Brown - great shout! Terrible singer but a fantastic voice that suits the Stone Roses down to the ground -
I think she can sing(Original post by kaypc)

Liam Gallagher. Especially nowadays, he's poor as a live singer. He's improved since '08, but he's just so nasal.
Even in his prime (c. 1995) he wasn't a good live singer technically or anything, but his voice was so raw and powerful, when combined with his stage presence, he was a phenomenal frontman and vocalist. This video sums is up.
Now, Noel's a much better performer.
I'd also say Jack Johnson as a singer who's not particularly good, but he's such an awesomely easy-going artist. -

All my friends tell me that Sonya Scarlet can't sing, but she is awesomely spinechilling when she sings in her soprano which she rarely uses, and she is an excellent performer and has a great personality.
Her regular voice:
Her soprano features in this song:

Anthony Kiedis of the Chili Peppers, awesome frontman, lyricist and did some insane rapping, with a very nice tone of voice to listen to. But as someone earlier said, singing wise and staying in key he is very weak; he could barely pull off 'Under the Bridge'.

Re: Artists that can't sing but are still awesomeAgreed. Although a lot of Adam's solo stuff isn't that bad, vocal-wise.(Original post by Tochai)
Kimya Dawson and Adam Green from the Mouldy Peaches.
Jamie Hartman from Ben's Brother. -

Ian Curtis
Having said that, he is one of my musical heroes and the loss of hope in his voice played a key part in creating the atmospheric sound of Joy Division. Someone with a conventionally good X factor voice would have sounded out of place as JD's singer, Ian was perfect for them.
Others: Joe Strummer (+ pretty much all punk singers), Tom Meighan, Ian Brown, Liam Gallagher post-Oasis -
Re: Artists that can't sing but are still awesomeexactly, which is why i also get confused when people dismiss new order because of sumner, whose vocal weaknesses work similarly in his favour(Original post by glousck)
