    Does anybody play the mandolin?
I play guitar and have done for nearly 5 years but I am interested in getting a mandolin to take on holiday etc..

    Does anybody have any advise?

    Perhaps one for sale?

    I don't know, anything about a mandolin!

    Ben

I play the mandolin. For about 2 years now. Like you I had also play guitar. I picked up a Stagg mandolin, had to alter the action on it but it plays pretty well for the price I paid for it.

I've been playing a bit for a few months, and I also play guitar :p:
I got a Stagg from a friend who was made redundant for £40. I still can't get used to how thin the neck is though :/

I don't think they're considered to be a top end make, but they do decent entry level instruments I think.

It looks identical to mine, though I think mine is the next step up as it's worth about £80.

Go for it if you want!

Would you go for the one up? Or that one?

I'm absolute 100% beginner at Mandolin and if I dont like it much, I don't want to lose as much money :\

Your choice entirely - I don't know enough about mandolins to know if it's worth getting a slightly more expensive one. Go for whatever you can afford I suppose!

That's the mandolin I have. I'm pleased with it. Obviously it isn't a top end mando but for the price you can't expect that but I think it's a good beginner mando
