Re: Best Decade for Music since 1900? Poll includedNo. R&B had its heyday in the 60s, 70s.(Original post by TheCurlyHairedDude)
Depends on the music genre.
R&B hands down the 90's, I'll argue that out and I will win.
It is; usually the 70s and 80s (espeically) wins this sort of poll.(Original post by benpearson1)
Interesting to see that the 1990s has come out clear favourite thus far

Re: Best Decade for Music since 1900? Poll includedAgreed, have to note Princes work in the 80s as well.(Original post by Gob Bluth)
No. R&B had its heyday in the 60s, 70s. -
Re: Best Decade for Music since 1900? Poll includedThe 70s has to be a slightly better decade as far as Springsteen is concerned. Kicked off with Greetings from Ashbury Park, The Wild, the innocent etc, Born to Run and Darkness.(Original post by morrissey)
You had big artists producing some of their best work: Paul Simon, Guns N Roses, Elvis Costello, Michael Jackson, R.E.M., Bruce Springsteen.
Perfect.
The 80s did have 3 good albums to be fair, but Born To Run is the best and the 80s finished with the atrocity that was Tunnel of Love.
The 70s was also when Billy Joel's music career kicked off. -
Re: Best Decade for Music since 1900? Poll includedFair point. Nebraska is personally my favourite album, but would definitely say 70s/80s Springsteen is pretty similar quality wise. I quite like Tunnel of Love!(Original post by Patriot Rich)

Re: Best Decade for Music since 1900? Poll included
Very difficult questions as each decade has at least a few of the best and most influential bands and artists. For me though its the sixties, it might not have had as many great bands as the other decades, but it had the two that matter most, Dylan and The Beatles.

Re: Best Decade for Music since 1900? Poll includedIndeed, a good point. Tusk and Rumours (former released late 70s and latter released mid 70s, I think?) are two great albums as far as I'm concerned. Also saw some of Pink Floyd's best work.(Original post by King Kebab)
1970's
Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, The Eagles, Thin Lizzy, Electric Light Orchestra, Led Zeppelin, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Mike Oldfield, Santana, Steely Dan are some of my favourite artists.

Re: Best Decade for Music since 1900? Poll includedYou only would've been able to vote for one of the 40s or 50s anyway, so I don't really see why you're complaining?(Original post by Life_peer)
Pity I could not vote for the 40s and 50s, so 1900 – 1950 it is. Even American music was great back then, for example Glenn Miller. Apart from the Second World War and maybe the health care, that period was great overall.
As I said in the OP, sorry for not including them as separate decades but I just didn't think they'd each get enough votes and it would just clutter the poll (and I suppose I was right, since they have 2 votes so far).
Not that I disagree with you though, I particularly enjoy a lot of early American blues from the 30s onwards. -
Re: Best Decade for Music since 1900? Poll included
Lots of genres have their ****ty stuff and their great stuff. Not sure what to pick, as there was great stuff in every decade I've listened to. I guess I could consider the 90s if I didn't hate britpop so ****ing much. **** it I'm not going to choose. Too hard.
