I currently have a student account with Barclays.

Is it possible for me to also open another student account with another bank? I know in the past this was possible, however I know a lot of them disallow this now, but surely some must have exceptions?


(worst case scenario is that I close the account, and create a new one else where. But ideally Id like to still have my Barclays open as I have a lot of direct debits/standing orders attached to the account etc)

I don't think you can when I've looked at student accounts some of them have said that you have to prove you don't have a student account anywhere else, look on the websites of the banks you want to go with and it's usually under if you qualify for the account or something similar

Most of them either out right ban it or have conditions attached that make it near as damnit impossible to hold two, such as a prerequisite of having your SL paid into that bank account and only that one cant hurt to tyr open a new one though the worst that can happen is theyll tell you to take a hike

^ True. I might just have to try that. Although I know they'll tell me to get on my bike...cus they can see from their system that I have an account elsewhere

Im told you can with santander. Unlike others that your loan must be paid to they just say pay in £200 per year or something like that.
