I studied earth science in college, and would like to pursue a career in the field. I'm either going to do an applied MS at Rice (PSM) or a Master's of Research at Bristol. The PSM is an applied Master's with a very good job placement rate, it also seems that several students have gone on to do a PhD from this program. With the MRes, I am not as sure about job placement, particularly in the US, but it seems like it could be a better option if I am leaning towards pursuing a PhD. I have several questions 1) Is Bristol as reputable as Rice in the US for earth sciences -- both in terms of PhD admission, but also in terms of jobs. -- for the US and the UK

The research for the MRes would be really fascinating and it incorporates many aspects of my academic history, whereas Rice is a very well-rounded program that I would walk away from with many skills and a wide knowledge base -- especially in fields where I have little to no background (e.g. bio, chem).

Please help!! THANKS
