Re: STEP testsThe current exam period for STEP is over - you don't need to do one until next year, and that's only a necessity for Cambridge/Warwick, if you get an offer.(Original post by Miryo)
I've realized I need to do a STEP exam.
I tried just looking at past papers but it was a bit too hard for me.
Do you have any revision guides/ tips for me?
Thanks
From my personal opinion (As a year 12 student also looking at STEP) I'd read through Siklos' booklets and attempt whatever bits you can - it gives you a flavour of the way you should tackle it, which requires a lot more thought than A Level. -
Re: STEP testsIm also in year 12, UCL also want it now and I think it'd be a good thing to put on your PS anyway. When is the deadline for register and when is the actual exam(s)(Original post by DJMayes)

Re: STEP testsUCL say that they either want A*AA plus a 1 in STEP or A*A*A. The A*A*A is the easier offer to meet.(Original post by Miryo)

The deadline for registration is sometime in March, with the exams in June. -
Re: STEP testsWhy do you need to take a STEP exam? Focus on getting an offer first! It's too late this year, and by May 2013 you'll already have gone through UCAS...(Original post by Miryo)

Re: STEP tests
It's good that you're thinking about STEP now, it's important to be well-prepared for when it comes round.
STEP is very hard, and it's expected that you'll initially struggle when you first look at the papers. If you manage to do a single question at the moment you're doing very well! However, with practice, your ability to attempt questions will grow.
Siklos' booklets are good: google "advanced problems in core mathematics".
