Best file for 1080p 5.1...
Can someone explain all the tech mumbo jumno with "blu ray or 1080p" files...
I know the Encoding for blu ray is:
MPEG-2
H.264/MPEG-4 AVC
VC-1
So if a file ends in 1080p BluRay blah blah x246 is that what it refers to? Blu ray encoding?
So is that how is that how the video was compressed?
What about the audio? whats the best for audio?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The codec? for the best blu ray file is H.264
Resolution is 1920x800
Audio AC3?
can some one explain coding, decoding, codec, compression, and which file will work on the ps3... sorry if any of the questions are n00by.
Please and Thanks -
Re: Best file for 1080p 5.1...
To answer the thread title, MKV
x264 is a 'library' for encoding H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, which is can be downloaded as codec to stream those files, typically windows computers do not have the capabilities to play heavy hd mkv files with out said codec
well that's how it was explained to me.... -
Re: Best file for 1080p 5.1...I download MKV files and stream on the PS3, where did you learn all the code, decoding codec stuff?(Original post by Yung Mon£y)
Just go for .mkv files for 1080p although they won't work on the PS3. If you want to play 1080p on PS3 go for avi files.
For a codec H.624 will work if you want to encode films in 1080p
Unless you are going to edit videos, you are asking way to many questions. -
Re: Best file for 1080p 5.1...Just by messing around with codec types when converting files.(Original post by ieatcheeseyo)

Re: Best file for 1080p 5.1...Honestly, your best bet is to google this and read about it. I had to do it at some point and it's worth it if you're genuinely curious about this sort of stuff.(Original post by ieatcheeseyo)

It would take too long to explain bit rate, x246 vs h.264, mkv vs mp4, AC3 vs DTS etc. - Google it.
I strongly recommend that you don't assume one is better than the other. It's a bit complicated, there's so much more involved.
