    About clearing:)
    Hello everyone!

My situation is I got an unsuccessful application from the University of Manchester on UCAS.
Therefore i decided Royal Holloway as my firm choice. But actually, i still really want to study in Manchester. So i m wonder can i still go clearing or exhibition and contact Manchester to consider me again? Or any other methods that can provide me a chance? such as transfer....

    thank you very much!!! Cheers!

You can, yes. However, the catch is you need to get Royal Holloway to release you before you can use Clearing ... and this may end up with you having no place at all if Manchester don't accept you. Come results day, you could try phoning them before you're in Clearing, but at some point it'll become a risk because you'll need to be released before you can officially do anything and the place may have gone by the time you're officially in Clearing.

Transfer is a possibility, but it's never something you can bank on and, if it happens at all, may be transfer into second year rather than first. If you exceed your firm off, Adjustment is a possibility - this has no risk because the firm is held for you, and theoretically any Clearing place can be used for Adjustment as well.

' What course do you want to study at Manchester? I'm going to Manchester to study Law and only applied last week and got a place as the other day there was still some courses left in Extra which may be a good thing as come results day they will want to fill the spaces which means grade boundaries MIGHT change allowing you to have a place.

If I was you I'd keep my place with Royal Holloway as your Firm choice ring Manchester up on results day to see if you can get a palce via clearing if yes, ring up Royal H tell them to release you and then tell Manchester you're waiting for them to relsease you and get them to send you a provisional offer letter. Therefore you won't lose your place at RH if no places are available through clearning at Manchester :-)

    Thanks for your reply
At first, i applied for 'Management and International business economics', but they rejected me because my english and mathe results in secondary school is not that good. So i asked them for is there any places for other business related courses. But they rejected me for the same reason above. So, i choose holloway for my firm now.And now i just wonder do i still have chances if i contact them again after the results come out?

thanks for your suggestions You are totally right, if i release my Holloway's place and finally Manchester are not going to give me a place, then i will totally lose everything So i just wonder can i contact Manchester at first and if they offer me ,after that i just release Holloway's place....

Most universities won't confirm anything until you're officially in Clearing (until they have your Clearing number, they can't look at your UCAS application) ... so there will quite possibly come a time when you have to take a risk or not go to Manchester.

However... You've already applied for Manchester and I believe they can still view your application, so this may be enough to circumvent the Clearing number being necessary. When/if you ring, mention that you have already applied to Manchester this year.
