    GP or A&E?
I had a viral infection with laryngitis about a month ago. This developed into a secondary bacterial infection of my trachea so the doctor prescribed me anti-b's, which finished last Thursday? My cough hasn't gone away and I'm now wheezing, my chest feels tight ( and like I have a lump in my left side of chest) and I'm struggling to breathe sometimes.

Basically should I go to a&e or wait to Monday and see my GP? I'm not sure if this is normal or my symptoms are serious?

    Thanks in advance!

If you're struggling to breath and are worried go to A&E.

An alternative that everyone seems to forget is your Out of hours GP. There is GP cover all across the UK. If you ring your GP practice they will probably have a recording telling you who to ring for out of hours service.

The local chemist can give you medical advice too.

Out of hours GP - it's not appropriate for A&E, and they will likely just send you to OOHs anyway.

    Alternatively ring NHS direct.

Hi- I took your advice and rang the Out of ours service. Ending up going to the local hospital and they gave me more antibiotics and an inhaler. Thanks for the advice, I didn't know the out hours service dealt with non-emergency stuff.
