CV help

Ive nver had a full time job just a saturday job and paper round which isn't very impressive cause im looking for part time/full time work now! Im looking for work with animals so im wondering if I should include the 2 week work experience I did at high school at a dogs home on the CV. I was only 14 do you think I should mention it?

Also what else does a CV require apart from Work History, Education and interests?

yeah include the work experience.
They'll understand why you haven't worked.

Everybody has to start somewhere, and the paper-round will be a positive thing as it shows you've had the commitment to get up every morning early to do a job.

what you've listed is all that you need really. make sure you hand the CV in, in person to the manager and show lots of interest and keeness in whatever job it is that you're applying for and you'll get the job. Make sure you dress quite smart as well.

Thanks, the thing is im 20 now and I did the round every Sunday for 4 years but im worried it will seem a bit .. deperate lol. I had a journal round as well but Ive decided not to put that on. Ive been at college and recently gave university up so I guess the A levels won't be much use elsewhere.

If I were you I would lie. A paper round and 2 weeks work experience 6 years ago isn't going to impress anybody.

Put it down, but I would also suggest getting some work on your CV, even if it is just volunteer work. You can volunteer 20 minutes a week at a local RSPCA centre or the Blue Cross. You could volunteer in an animal based charity shop as well for instance. Maybe try to get some work experience in a local vets, which is what I did when I was at school. I got 'pocket money' for it but I went everyday out on call with a large animal vet, which was fantastic.

I wouldn't lie. Not only is it dishonest, if you get caught out you can kiss your chances at ever working for that company goodbye. Some top companies even use a blacklist so you might potentially be blocking yourself off from other potential jobs.

You also need to put all your personal details on the CV  , I don't think you mentioned that.

Theres no harm in lying to get his first job.

No top company would ever use a 'blacklist' that'd cost money to operate and to keep maintained. They'd never ring other employers either.

Quite. He's applying to help out at some animal place not for a board position with Marks & Spencer. I hardly think his CV is going to come under too much scrutiny.

exactly... Horror boy even has a link to peta in his signiture, I'm sure he can show enthusiasm about animals as it seems to be his specialist subject as well. he should have no probs getting the job. he should maybe even put on his cv that hes a member, even if he isnt... they'll look positive on it.

Nothing wrong with a bit of embelleshment IMO. My CV has so much BS on it that I can barely keep a striaght face when I read it. Still, nobody's ever caught me out on anything.

Well I've worked with top companies that do use a blacklisting system which is shared through a third-party with other companies. You'd be suprised how important hiring the right people is when they'll be earning a lot of money.

And of course there's harm in lying, you're being dishonest and what if you were to get the job over someone who had not lied, just because you had? Why can't you actually achieve something and put it on your CV instead?
