Roman Mysteries I was into. I even sent an email to the author and she sent me some signed posters and stuff which was pretty cool.

I was also into all of the old girls boarding school stories. The jolly hockey sticks sort. So there were the ones by Enid Blyton (Malory Towers, St. Clare's) and there was also Elinor M. Brent Dyer who wrote the Chalet School books. Also there was a series about a school called Trebizon by Anne Digby. I loved them. Mum gave me her old ones by Enid Blyton and Elinor M. Brent Dyer which got me into them.

When I was about 10 I was into Jacqueline Wilson like most young girls.

Eva Ibbotson was also good. This was when I started getting into historical fiction when I was a bit older.

    Roald Dahl & Michael Morpurgo

As a pre-teen, Andy McNab (his young-adult novels, that is), Robert Muchamore, J.K. Rowling & Chris D'Lacy. Oh, and whatever I could find in my local library. 'The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-time' was one of my favourites.. I might borrow that again and reread it now, actually..

Edit: Just remembered Malorie Blackman's Noughts&Crosses series, which we started to read in English and I got hooked..

    Enid Blyton
    Rupert the Bear
    C. S. Lewis
    Roald Dahl
Tolkien (I only read the Hobbit as a kid - I read LOTR when I was 18)
Sweet Valley Twins / Sweet Valley High books
    The Babysitters Club books

I also used to read loads of "choose your own adventure" books. My favourite of these was a Heart Quest book called Ring of the Ruby Dragon. Ahh that takes me back.

Jacqueline Wilson, Lemony Snicket, Harry Potter, The Babysitters Club, Enid Blyton,Meg Cabot, Goosebumps, loved a book called "Carrie's War" - I hated people and loved books as a child
