I don't think you need the full suit, but I would still go with the tie if I were you.
There's no way of knowing how many other people will be at your interview and what they'll be wearing - you don't want to turn up and find them all in suits when you're not even wearing a tie. You don't want to look like the one who's made the least effort to smarten up.
Although of course if they really want you, whether you wear a tie or not won't make that much difference. -

All the guys at both of my interviews were wearing ties, but a couple didn't wear the jackets, you could consider getting a shirt with a slightly bigger collar if your current one is choking you and just have a little bit looser but you'll still look fine really. You could also consider a waistcoat instead of a jacket if the jackets make you uncomfortable, I rocked one at the UEA and got on the course, looking mighty dapper if I do say so. Most important though is to make sure you look smart but you are comfortable.
