    Really?! :O.well theoretically then

*goes to.find giant sheet to.fold more than eight times*
You would only need to fold your theoretical piece of paper 42 times in order to reach the moon. No one ever believes me when I tell them that but it's true

I think they did it on tv once with a warehouse sized paper sheet and a steamroller and couldnt fold it in half more than 8 times!

True, but I would argue the book isn't quite as "bad" or visual as those..
    Whatever

You just physically can't because of the thickness of the paper at the fold, with each fold you need more and more strength to be able to bend the paper it will be getting 2x thicker and so 2x stronger

So why can't a steam roller fold it

So why can't a steam roller fold it
with a normal sheet of a4, most people cant do more than 6 folds, because it gets too small, so even with a massive sheet of paper, because of the doubling in strength, you cant bend it, it would be like trying to fold a really thick slab of concrete. The only time i know of where anyone got to 8 was on mythbusters where they used a sheet of paper the size of a warehouse with steamrollers and stuff in order to disprove the myth that you couldnt fold it more than 7 times, they ended up proving the fact that you cant fold it more than 8 in the process

Wooooaaah! So why can't people use folded paper to hold heavy things up xD I may be coming across as really thick! But I can assure you I'm not...

Just because it can be peeled apart layer by layer, and if you fold paper up so much it deforms the paper and doesn't look too good, have you ever seen the trick where phone books are interleaved and because of the friction caused by the intermolecular forces between the pages (and because there is so many this effect is multiplied) they cannot be pulled apart, can do some cool stuff with paper
I did see something once where single sheets of news paper were rolled up really tightly by a machine and could be used to build fairly big, really strong structures, like the size of a room which you could climb on.
I suppose it isn't used much just because its unconventional and if it got wet that would be fairly bad for the structural integrity of any paper building.
Oh, and they make the candy lolly pop sticks out of tightly rolled paper and they are fairly strong.
Im not some kind of in the closet paper fact lover btw i just know a lot of fairly useless things lol

Is the universe in a room, or is the universe the room that is forever expanding?
