Please answer this poll, and also feel free to share your own experiences with Road Rage.
As we live in an increasingly fast-paced, stressed-out society with more and more congestion on the roads, Road Rage is just asking to happen, so let's see who here has suffered from it.
Edit: I made a typo in the first poll option, it should read 'Road Rage' not 'Road Road'Last edited by Really_Gonna_Rock_; 08-07-2012 at 03:08. -
Re: Do you get Road Rage while driving? Share your experiences here....
If I find myself getting into the wrong lane by mistake, and its taking me somewhere I don't want to go, I signal, but if there is built up traffic and no one is letting me in, I can't stand it. I start getting nervous and aggitated.
This has only happened once or twice, but I find myself at lights, making sure I'm first off the line by giving my car all its got, to then switch lanes.
Like I said though. That has only happened once or twice so far, as I usually plan ahead better than that.
I hate people that pull out infront of me though without signalling, or bikes that take up so much of the road, your doing 10 miles per hour behind them because the road is too narrow to pass, and you can't wait to push the pedal down when you have space, or cars that overtake you because they think you are going too slow (even though you are doing speed limit), and then pull into your lane. -

I occasionally get road rage.
With me its things like tailgaiting. It really annoys me. I usually do the speed limit wherever possible, so its not like i drive slow or anything. If people want to over take me then they can feel free, just dont sit up my arse the whole time, it wont make me go any faster.
And the other things is people pulling out in front of me, meaning i have to brake sharpish to avoid hitting them. There isnt any need for it really. If theres cars coming and you cant go, then dont go, dont just out infront of me because its just asking for me to hit you. -

I get so angry when I let people through when no one has right of way and they don't acknowledge it. And people who pull out on roundabouts. And cyclists. And tractors (I live in the Welsh Valleys and get this a lot). I once got blocked by a cow stood in the middle of the road too.

I get pissed when drivers try to pass me on my bike when there isn't enough room, meaning I have to pull over onto the pavement or get hit by the car coming too close to me.
And when drivers yell at me that I should be further over, or cycling a different way. I hate that they think they know what I should be doing better than me, despite the fact that I've been riding about 8 miles every day for the last four years, never crashed, done all road safety levels, and am always advised by my mum who is a qualified road safety instructor. I ride far out in the road to prevent collisions between other cars and being knocked off my bike, which happened to my younger brother when he was riding too near to the curb twice. -
Re: Do you get Road Rage while driving? Share your experiences here....Yeah, but its just annoying on a narrow road, that you can't go the speed limit. Fine that you are biking it, and exercising, and I enjoy biking too!(Original post by Alix23)

But I find myself biking on pavement a lot more than I do roads. I just don't feel safe biking on roads. Especially not narrow ones. I know how stressed drivers get.
I had one bike, that I finally had chance to overtake suddenly veer to the right and go down a side road. He never signalled he was going to do that, and so I just get nervous.
Actually, I just get nervous full stop when a bikers on the road and I need to pass, a narrow road or not.Last edited by Kage; 08-07-2012 at 18:54. -
Re: Do you get Road Rage while driving? Share your experiences here....
I don't drive much as I don't have my own car so I haven't really had much chance to have any read rage incidents. I don't like careless cyclists though, I almost ran one over a couple of weeks after I started driving. I was driving along the road out of my village and there was some fat middle aged man riding his bike along the path, he came up to this old woman pushing one of those old people shopping trolley things that he couldn't get by then decided to suddenly jump onto the road without looking or signalling about 5 metres in front of the car. I wasn't paying full attention at the time as it was the first time driving with my dad in the car so I didn't notice him approaching the old woman, only him jumping onto the road and me having to brake to avoid having his fat ass on the bonnet.

Re: Do you get Road Rage while driving? Share your experiences here....Biking on the pavement is almost always more dangerous than cyling on the road, particularly to pedestrians. Also it's illegal except for children under the age of 12.(Original post by Kage)

Re: Do you get Road Rage while driving? Share your experiences here....Depends, on paths I take to and from work, you are aloud to cycle on them, as there are no other routes, as I go through car parks, and around the sides of a building, then over a bridge (which is marked for bikes too).(Original post by Alix23)

I also bike really late at night with lights, and no one is really around anyway. Midnight biking/running is something I like to do a lot, and there are a lot of bike paths (pavements) around where I live so you don't really need to bike on the road itself.
I'm not in so much a built up area, so it doesn't matter all that much in my opinion, and I haven't ever knocked anyone down, and I surely don't go full speed near people. Roads just aren't safe.
I know plenty of people that have been killed whilst on a bike on roads though, but I don't know anyone that has been knocked down from a bike on a pavement...
If passing people, you slow down almost to a crawl, and most likely, they shouldn't be on the bike paths anyway, but some still do.Last edited by Kage; 08-07-2012 at 20:13. -
Re: Do you get Road Rage while driving? Share your experiences here....
I wouldn't say I get full-on road-rage - usually I just get slightly annoyed and grip the steering wheel tighter / mutter something under my breath. If something really annoys me, eg tailgating, then I just swear a lot.
However, I do get properly angry if I give way to someone and they don't do the thank you hand wave. Oooh, that makes my blood boil.Last edited by TattyBoJangles; 08-07-2012 at 22:37. -
Re: Do you get Road Rage while driving? Share your experiences here....
i would LOVE to get road rage to the extent I get out and have a massive argument!
but my road rage is limited to swearing a lot more than normal and telling everyone they are stupid... found myself doing it with my 4 year old cousin in the car... thankfully row row row your boat on repeat had put him to sleep... -

Re: Do you get Road Rage while driving? Share your experiences here....Tailgating when you are going the speed limit. There's a 30 road near where I live, with a very obvious and active speed camera placed along it. I always go 30 here, and on one occasion there was a car who had come up behind me at about 60, had to slam their brakes on when they came up behind me, and began weaving all over the place, trying to spot a gap in the stream of opposite traffic so they could ovetake. But the hilarious thing was, the moment they spotted the camera (you could see it from about 200m away), he slowed right down and widened the gap excessively. Once he had passed the camera however, he started tailgating me again.

I was graceful when it became a 60 zone so I could temporarily put some space between him and I. -
