Credibility of a Journalism degree?

Hello,
First off I don't want to offend anybody here and I don't want to 'slag off' their university or course. However, I really want to go into magazine journalism at Elle,Vogue etc as a beauty editor. I'm 16 currently so have just chosen my AS's (English Lit, History, French and Economics). I started a blog in May this year with the view to making it successful over the next few years. To get into Journalism should I do a specific Journalism degree or a degree in a different subject i.e French and then do a postgrad in Journalism? Do I even need to have any Journalism qualification to go on to what I want to do?

If you want to get into fashion/beauty/magazine journalism then consider University of the Arts London's degree: BA (Hons) Fashion Journalism. If you want to specialise in these areas, then this is a good choice in terms of reputation and credibility.

If you want to go into the more hard news and current affairs side of journalism, Nottingham Trent is a pretty good university for Journalism. You might want to consider 'Multimedia Journalism' degrees also, as these degrees cover the new career of journalism: no longer do we just write for print, we write for TV, Radio and Internet nowadays, us journalist need to be multi skilled.

And finally, you should look into degrees that are accredited by NCTJ (National Council of the Training of Journalists) and BJTC (Broadcast Journalism Training Council). Degrees that are accredited by these bodies provide better career prospects.

*University of the Arts London journalism degrees are not accredited by any of these councils but hold very good reputation throughout the UK*
