Suggest a laptop/ultrabook?
So my uncle passed away a week ago, and my aunt has given me some money. I don't even have a laptop atm, so I'm planning on getting one with the money. I've seen the MacBook pro with discount for £850, and that's the highest id go. Can anyone suggest alternatives to a MacBook that are cheaper? I've seen a HP ultrabook for £700(can't remember the name haha) and that appeared quite good. Any help is appreciated

EDIT- Forgot to say what I'd use it for *idiot* I'd use it for streaming music + films, downloading crap
and just using the internet whilst watching stuff etc

Re: Suggest a laptop/ultrabook?Lenovo Thinkpads, excellent machines highly recomended T/X series specifically although the W line is rather nice, probably a bit out your price range though but yar i suggest you check them out, not the prettiest of machines in general but built like brick **** houses and marketed towards the business industry so all in all very reliable and great customer service with them, whenever anything has ever gone wrong with one of mine [in 10years only twice
] ive had replacement parts there within 3 days

Thanks! Will look into them(Original post by cl_steele)

They are laptops right, not desktops?(Original post by hevlar.kelmet)
I second this. Although I have an E series it is still very good, and the best computer I've bought. Really solid machine, packed with power and not too shabby looking either. -

All your needs can pretty much be accommodated with a basic i3 laptop and 4gb of ram and enough storage place. -
I don't think so, my brothers laptop is slow as ****. I can't be bothered by slow loading program's etc.(Original post by Iqbal007)

Re: Suggest a laptop/ultrabook?i3 will do everything you need, getting anything more powerful wouldn't really work, a quad core wouldn't be use to you as everything you use only utilise's a dual core not quad core. So you wont get any better performance(Original post by chapman.)

Re: Suggest a laptop/ultrabook?
Sony Vaio laptops are really nice. Their laptops have a massive variety and whichever you go for will serve you pretty well. Their Ultrabook, the T Series, isn't the most powerful on the market but IMO it's the best looking (I even prefer it to the MacBook) and it would be more than suitable for your needs. It's also quite durable and it's a sizable amount cheaper than the MBP.
