I don't think it is change per se that is the problem, it's just what people view as unnecessary change. I think most people feel that the traditional desktop interface didn't really need any drastic changes, just refinements. Moreover Windows 8 has replaced it with what appears to be primarily a tablet interface, with desktop users as an afterthought. With regards to facebook, at least you aren't paying to use it. If you are a Windows 7 user like me then it is quite difficult to justify spending money on upgrading to Windows 8.

I was merely using facebook as an example for when people are against change rather than against the new thing.

I can see how people get annoyed about the tablet-y interface, I remember a similar thing when canonical made unity the default for ubuntu

Fyi, you can turn off the metro if you want. So it will look like the windows 7 desktop. It loads up much quicker as well.

I assumed the tile layout was just for tablets, which I suppose confirms everyone's beliefs that it has mainly been designed with tablets in mind. Using it on a desktop I'd feel kind of inferior and as if I was living in the past.

I don't think you even have to run in Metro mode if you don't want.

The most user unfriendly OS I have ever used. And they've incorporated ****ing bing into every single app. It's driving me up the wall because bing is ****. It's about the same speed as windows 7. It made for touch screen and tablets by the looks of stuff so if you have a desktop or laptop don't get it. It's just so awkward to use. I've used it for a couple of hours and maybe I'll get use to it but I doubt it.

I think you might have just robbed Mr. Gates off a few £€$¥s with over 2k views n counting(on this thread), I nearly purchased one till i saw this review

I'm not sure whether to download it now Windows 7 died a death on my laptop and now Ubuntu (which is pure evil) isn't letting me reinstall Windows and it's trying to trap me.
But Windows 8 looks awful and I don't think I want that either now
