Re: Freshers at Strathclyde University 2012/13I'm starting Journalism and Creative Writing at Strath this year too! Are you looking forward to it?(Original post by steph.b)
Sounds interesting too, I subscribed for Journalism and Creative Writing and I want to combine it with English and Economics.
Oh that's a good thing in a way, on the other side, I want to be further away so that I may be a little more independent.

Re: Freshers at Strathclyde University 2012/13What were your choices then?(Original post by alaska.)
They changed my offer to Unconditional last week. But the Accomodation Office was closed last Friday and Monday, so I think they only saw the Unconditional on Tuesday. I didn't hear anything yet. Hope to know where I will be staying by the end of next week. However I received my Final Certificate of Acceptance, that cheered me up a little! Congrats for the Unconditional

I am looking forward, I'm so impatient because they haven't changed my status yet... What are going to study besides jcw?!(Original post by ClaireFrances)

Re: Freshers at Strathclyde University 2012/13Mine hasn't been changed either, so don't worry! I had to email them yesterday cause sqa have sent my results to the wrong address and the girl said not to worry, as long as I have met the conditional requirements it won't affect my place, and my lecturer at college gave me my results before I finished anyways so I know i've got it.(Original post by steph.b)

I've applied to it twice, one with English and one with Italian, but I'm going to do English.
What have you been doing up until now?

Re: Freshers at Strathclyde University 2012/13I sent in everything per mail and e-mail and I received a mail telling me my documents have been forwarded to the course selector to check if I fulfill the conditions.(Original post by ClaireFrances)

Well until now I only applied for JCW and I haven't figured out yet how I can select other courses, but as they require us to take part in 3 different courses the first year, they are surely going to tell me when I have to select the others!
Well, I just finished Secondary Education in Luxembourg and because I changed school a few times I'm a little older than most of the freshers.
I have been doing science classes, then changed to nursing school, but I didn't pass, so I ended up graduating in Economics at what you probably call 'highschool'.
What have you done so far? And how old are you? Have you applied for student accomodation on campus?

Last year I could customise my curriculum even before the start of the academic year. But you can wait for your meeting with study advisor (this will happen in September). -
Re: Freshers at Strathclyde University 2012/13Thank you so much! I'm so impatient but they will answer my mail soon I suppose(Original post by Catta)

Re: Freshers at Strathclyde University 2012/13This seems to be a rather recurring theme with almost all of us...(Original post by steph.b)
I'm so impatient

Re: Freshers at Strathclyde University 2012/13Haha, I only let the steam out in this forum - my mum's had enough of my impatient whining when I was waiting for my matriculation results last year.(Original post by steph.b)
My parents are bored with me always worrying about uni stuff so I'm so happy I can chat with you understanding my doubts and impatience! When are you going to arrive in Glasgow? Will you travel by plane?
But it's good I can shout out "I'm impatient!" somewhere.
I'm coming by plane close to the Freshers' Week. -
Re: Freshers at Strathclyde University 2012/13Well last year there was nothing I could complain about(Original post by FinnLassie)

Ah okay, I'm coming by car with my parents on the 13th

Re: Freshers at Strathclyde University 2012/13I have no idea what happens with picking courses, I haven't heard anything from them.(Original post by steph.b)

I just finished a professional writing course at college, ive done a few things before this, i'll be 23 at the start of the course, and I know a few other people around about my age that are doing the course as well. I have my own place not far from the uni anyways, so I don't need student accomodation -
Re: Freshers at Strathclyde University 2012/13I see! That's quite amazing. Are you starting the undergraduate course?(Original post by ClaireFrances)

Re: Freshers at Strathclyde University 2012/13It's natural to be a bit worried about uni stuff, especially when you're a foreigner(Original post by FinnLassie)

But believe me, people at university are very friendly and caring. As long as you have the required grades, nothing can go wrong. You'll all be fine
