The "Bands That People Probably Haven't Heard of Before" Thread
I've noticed that a lot of the people on this forum have terribly predictable tastes in music. Now don't get me wrong, there are a lot of great, amazing mainstream bands and I listen to a lot of them. However, this is a thread I've created for people to list musicians/bands which they love that people probably haven't heard of before. I'll start this thread off. Post videos as well if you like.

Kind of been done already, but I'll check out the bands you posted. I thought everyone had heard of The Tallest Man on Earth by now as well. -
Re: The "Bands That People Probably Haven't Heard of Before" ThreadI'm mainly referring to people who listen to the likes of Ed Sheeran and Ben Howard, but are completely unaware of the existence of other, superior singer/songwriter types.(Original post by Converse Rocker)

I love Beirut, they're one of my favourite
Also like Beach House, Turin Brakes, Neon Indian, Metronomy, Neutral Milk Hotel, Freelance Whales (a member is the brother of Darren Criss), The Ascetic Junkies. No links because I'm waaaay too lazy, but they're all worth a check out -
Re: The "Bands That People Probably Haven't Heard of Before" ThreadI saw them supporting Twin Atlantic, I really enjoyed it, but I know what you mean.(Original post by brendonbackflip)
I saw them when they were supporting Panic! At The Disco, they were pretty good (although they had a bit of a forced stage presence) -
Re: The "Bands That People Probably Haven't Heard of Before" Threadtry harder, porcupine tree are huge. They've played the albert hall.
The Gathering. Big in other countries, but I've never met anyone who listens to them, and the same with the ex-singer's solo stuff, Anneke Van Giersbergen
School of seven bells. Great shoegaze/electronic band. As good if not better than warpaint in the same sort of style. -
Re: The "Bands That People Probably Haven't Heard of Before" ThreadT.Rex as in the band from the 60s?(Original post by Ryan_94)

Alt-J, a band I've only just this morning discovered after hearing them on radio 1 of all places! They're really good and its hard to say what genre they are as they mix all sorts of stuff into their music, indie, folk, electronic, dubstep (although don't let the dubstep put you off). And the great thing about them is they're not predictable at all, the most original sounding band I've heard for a while.

Steam Powered Giraffe! They're the 'Singing Musical Automatons'... in other words, they have the robot make-up (which is freaking AMAZING), and incorporate Mime into their acts as well... seriously, they act so much like Robots you sometimes forget they're humans.
Also, The Spine (the silver robot) has one of the best voices I've EVER HEARD.
