Re: Primark Job Interview - Please HelpYeah i hope that's what they are doing , because i told em i already had a job during the Olympic period ...its been 18 days now -_-(Original post by miss_fashionista)

They need to make their minds up. I know that everyone is saying it has nothing to do with age, but seriously has a single 16 or 17 year old actually been offered the job. There's a delay with replies I know that, but for all the people who have already been offered the job, are any of you even under 18?? I'd like to know because everyone I know that has applied only the ones over 18 were offered jobs, the rest are still waiting and they all had their interviews on the same day.

Re: Primark Job Interview - Please Help
i know we are all losing patience, but its not that bad considering the store doesnt open until september, if we was going to get rejected they would have done it by now, companies get rid of rejections early one, my interview was on the 7th and i still dont know!

Some people just really need to know soon, like myself because I really need a job. if I'm not told soon, it's just going to make finding a job harder and slightly more stressful.(Original post by miss_fashionista)

I've started apply for other jobs now. & also don't call them because apparently they will 'withdraw' your application. To be honest, don't even feel like I have applied there. -

Re: Primark Job Interview - Please Help
Their HR team is clearly incompetent and lacks any sort of job satisfaction to meet deadlines. I briefly had a look around the other interviewers before my interview and they all looked like they didn't want to be there. My interviewer happened to be quite friendly and really wanted to get a better understanding as to why I was sitting there when I was clearly over-qualified. Half way through my interview everyone had gone (lol) which tells you a bit about their "herd of cows, get them out as quick as possible" attitude.
On another note:
I had a group assessment with Mothercare at the Jobcentre the other day and It was the most unprofessional thing I had ever seen. Everyone except 4 (including me) had dressed like they were about to go to a rave although the letter clearly stated "business wear".
I'm from a finance background and that's what I've studied for the last 7 years but I was practically forced to go to the assessment center and when I told my "adviser" that I didn't have any direct selling experience he said "well, you have no choice".
The assessment was pointless and we were given the task of observing a product and then come up as a group of the best 5 benefits and features. My group was terrible! When I told them that safety was the most important thing to look out for they disagreed (lol). I pretty much gave up from then (15 mins into the assessment).
The team of interviewers consisted of 1 assistant manager, 2 supervisors and 1 security guard who was apparently being promoted to supervisor. Needless to say their English was poor and fragmented.
Towards the latter part of the assessment there were 2 parts. The first being a 1:1 interview and the other a selling exercise where you were given a sheet with information and had to sell a product to a customer using that information.
My 1:1 interview lasted under 2 minutes. "So are you working?" .. Erm If I was I wouldn't be signing on would I!
I didn't know whether the lady interviewing had a neck problem because she was nodding her head up and down the whole time. "Why do you want to work for Mothercare?" Erm.. for the money (lol). No I actually said progression (It was bullsh*t though).
I finished the 1:1 feeling somewhat deflated. Not because I did bad in the interview (I knew they didn't like me) but because I was forced to go when clearly my skill set was not suited to this selling role. Apparently they were looking for serious sales people.
My selling task was with the security guard who turned supervisor. I could barely understand him. Again, he didn't really like me. Maybe he thought he was above me and tried to show his authority. Yeah right!
The whole nightmare lasted 4 hours! All that for a £6.07/hr job. No thanks!
Since I'm from an accounting background before the assessment day I looked into their Annual Reports. They are performing poorly and their Finance director had quit 2 months before LOL to go to a Private equity firm which say's it ALL. Their CEO resigned last year after profit warnings.
NOW I'm being forced to attend a Toys R US assessment center next week. It's 2 hours! I'm happy to do a sales role but they expect you to be some amazing direct selling expert. I've been told the assessment will start off in a role play situation from the minute I walk into the store LOL...Erm OK!
I'm still applying for relevant roles in finance. Hoping I hear back from someone soon.Last edited by shane1989; 30-06-2012 at 12:35.
