    Yep, you can self-teach maths definitely. The thing with Maths is if you are able to get an A it will look very good on your application even if your other grades aren't so good. Universities care most about the Maths component for CS. Agreed, Edexcel with it's solution banks are very useful.

    Yeah, I think I read somewhere that edexcel set the standard when it comes to Maths anyway. The other exam boards follow.

    I would take the D1 exam in May/June. The January grade boundaries are always ridiculously high.

    The only changes to the Edexcel specification in 2009 are that two topics, Simplex and flows in networks, moved from D1 to D2. Otherwise the papers upto 2008 are still relevant.
