    AMD or Intel CPU
I am going to build my first rig and really want advice:

    http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/show...3#post38486623

Money: 500-600 pounds is my budget. Possibly slightly more.
Uses: Video editing, loads of downloading, loads of watching movies. Lots of multitasking of greedy software
Case: I really dont know but from my research so far I quite like the Coolermaster Storm Enforcer Mid Tower OR Cm Storm Mid Tower. I like their designs but any suggestions welcome.
PSU: Not sure at all- any advice on what I need?
    RAM: Probably 8gb Corsair ram?
Motherboard: Not sure at all- any advice on what I need?
CPU Cooler: Not sure at all- any advice on what I need?
CPU: Preferably i7, maybe i5. I DO NOT overclock or do much gaming.
HDD: I am not sure because I dont really think I need a SSD and they are more expensive. In total I want at least 1TB or more space but not sure if I should just get a hard drive/s or a SSD as well.
    SDD: See above
GFX Card: I dont do much gaming but do use a lot of video software etc but no where as near as much as some people do.
FAN: Most people place a lot of emphasis on fans/ coolers but for my above reasons I dont think I need to worry to much and 1 should be enough. What do you reccomend?

One thing I have noticed is that AMD chips are a lot cheaper and people I have talked to have said you get "more bang for your buck" but others say that the newer processors like the AMD Bulldozer is really unreliable. I am really not sure what to use but siding more towards Intel i5. What do you think, and any advice for the rest of my build?

On your last thread Daniel_R gave you a perfectly good build for less than £600, what's with the new thread?

Nothing wrong with a bit of research on my part buddy. Just interested from what I have heard about AMD V Intel. Its an interesting decision and I wanna know why Intel costs so much more when I already have a computer running AMD Quad core and its fine. Want to hear about what the wonderful users on TSR think.

Just because they are both quad core doesn't make them equal, they are very different inside, and the latest generation of intel processors (Ivybridge) blow the AMD equivalents out of the water, to the point where AMD are actually pretty much dropping out of the desktop CPU market (link here)

In the end if you're not convinced just look at some benchmarks, Intel are more expensive simply because they are that much better, no other reason...

You don't need a CPU cooler if you don't plan on overclocking it. The stock one will be fine. Also I would recommend getting Intel and also make sure you buy a decent PSU.

When it comes to performance, there really is no context. Intel are simply superior. At your budget, you should be able to afford one of the i5s whether that be the 2300/2400/2500 Sandy Bridge ones or one of the newer Ivy Bridge ones. Either way, it'll be superior to any of AMDs offerings.

Well I got bulldozer fx-8120.....i barely push it even playing games and so on.
Most AMD fans use the last generation processors. Intel probably get you more performance in video editing.

Fan wise you need 2 personally at least, one take in air at the front and a second at the back to pushes it out, which makes airflow pretty good.
