A-Level choices. Help mee!!
I have just left school and i am starting college and I am stuck with picking my options! I am wanting to become a primary school teacher. So far I have considered:
Phycology
Textiles
Health+Social
Sociology
ICT
Photography
What do you think of these? We're they hard or easy and were they interesting? And will they help me with what I want to do in the future? I'm so stuck!!
I have to pick 4 so I need help narrowing them down...

Re: A-Level choices. Help mee!!
To be a primary school teacher i'd reccomend taking English and Maths. Out of your list i'd keep ICT and possibly Sociology (but biology would be better as you teach science)
So the ideal subjects for primary school teaching would be - English (lit&lang), Maths, Biology and ICT
But out of your list, the only subjects that would help you would be ICT, and either sociology and psychology.
So if i was you id pick, English, Maths, ICT and either Sociology or Psychology
DO NOT TO TEXTILES! IT WOULD BE A WASTE OF TIME -
Re: A-Level choices. Help mee!!
They're considered to be relatively soft subjects, I would choose to take subjects that are in the primary school curriculum, preferably English, Maths and Science. I would choose at least one of those and 3 other subjects you feel you are best at/ you would find interesting.
Universities praise applications that hold traditional subjects, they are harder, you shouldn't choose an A-level because you think it would be easy, because none of them are, some are just harder than others.
If you choose that and get 2 weeks experience in a primary school setting (that's what most universities require for a primary education degree if this is the road you choose to take.)
Good luck, excellent career choice by the way.

Re: A-Level choices. Help mee!!I would suggest English since you have spelt psychology wrong twice now(Original post by Abbieeeeee.96)
I really enjoy textiles and I have been told that I would need a creative subject so what do you all think of Phsycology, ICT, biology and textiles?
However I cannot really talk since I am also shocking at spelling!!
I would deffo go for the core subects. I know many of my friends who are struggling to find jobs in primary school teaching atm and anything that will make you a stronger candidate would be worth considering! -

Re: A-Level choices. Help mee!!I would say they overlap far too much. You want a broader range for something like primary school teaching. All 3 are essay based subjects and psychology and sociology are both studies of people. Perhaps do one of the two, English language and then something totally different like maths or science? Ypu want to pick things you will be interested in but you do not want to disadvantage yourself. I did the 3 sciences and Psychology at Alevel and it could get a bit heavy. Psychology was a nice balance away from a lab!(Original post by ikz94)
I would go Psychology Sociology and English language and literature the 3 go well together -
Re: A-Level choices. Help mee!!As a matter of fa ct Psychology isnt always about the study of people there the biologicala spect aswell and with the perpective su elarn in sociology it works really well due tot he fact both of them your going to be elarning studies whilst english is just redaing 2-3 books writing two essays and prepparing for the exam not much workload(Original post by Phoenix_147)

Re: A-Level choices. Help mee!!With the exception of psychology, I'd say they're dreadful subjects for anyone, let alone somebody that wants to become a teacher!(Original post by Abbieeeeee.96)

As a primary school teacher in particular, it would be your job to try to get children to learn how to spell, basic grammar, and how to do basic arithmetic, and how to read and enjoy learning. Therefore it is everyones best interest for would-be teachers do stick to these traditional subjects; if you wanted to throw in something creative, then throw in art, not "textiles".
However I cannot really talk since I am also shocking at spelling!!
