Premier League Pre-Season and Summer Transfer Window Thread
As there's no dedicated Premier League sub-forum (as yet), I figured it would be worth making a thread so fans of all the PL clubs can discuss the ins and outs of their pre-seasons, as well as what they make of their signings, or indeed other teams' signings.

Re: Premier League Pre-Season and Summer Transfer Window Thread
Really excited to see Kagawa on the Pre-season tour. I think he can have a big impact ala David Silva in his 1st season at City. Nick Powell is a good young signing, and it will be interesting to see his progress for the reserves and in League cup matches.
I think Giroud + Podolski could more than compensate for the void left by RVP and his goals if he were to leave. Is another striker a necessity? I'd put the emphasis on a defensive midfielder before that if RVP went.
There's also strong rumours that Moses will leave Wigan for one of the big boys in the league. I think he's making a mistake though. He probably wouldn't get much game time, and would be better off having 1 more year with Wigan under the stewardship of Martinez.
Good thread, Marcusmerehay.Last edited by DH1'; 09-07-2012 at 16:06. -
Re: Premier League Pre-Season and Summer Transfer Window ThreadYeah Guthrie was a really good squad player, very impressive when filling in for Tiote. Sad to see him go, really need depth with a Europa League campaign but he demanded first team football and unfortunately he wouldn't have got it here.(Original post by DH1')
Don't rate Pogrebnyak, but he's good enough for Reading. Do you think Newcastle could've done with keeping Guthrie, what with Europe now. He was pretty good when filling in for Tiote wasn't he?
The arrival of Amalifitano meant his exit was inevitable as well... -
Re: Premier League Pre-Season and Summer Transfer Window ThreadYeah Park is an absolute cracking signing. His workrate is tremendous. He's got another 2 years left in him.(Original post by Dorito)
QPR making the classic mistake of buying 'names' rather than actual talent, I mean Nelsen, really?! Park is a tidy signing for them but I'd love to see them go down this year.
Notice Man Utd signed a replacement for Park so they can still get the commercial success in that region.

Swansea have their 1st signing of the summer, completing a deal for Genoa defender Jose Manuel Flores.

Ridiculous thing to say really, Kagawa's a cracking player, and that's coming from a City fan.
Apparently (well according to the daily mail) Chelsea have Oscars signature for 25m. All this spending with more to come shows Chelsea mean business this year, Abramovich has gone on a mad one again. 1,2 and 3 is going to be incredibly tight next season imo can't wait. -
Re: Premier League Pre-Season and Summer Transfer Window ThreadYep but so is Ji Sung Park. One of the most under-rated players in the Premier League.(Original post by charlie9872)

Havn't seen much of Kagawa though, But i bet he has got Kagawa partly to increase revenue throughout Japan, China etc. -
Re: Premier League Pre-Season and Summer Transfer Window ThreadIndeed. And Chico is an astute signing too, I think.(Original post by TM94)
Swansea have signed Jonathan De Guzman on a season long loan deal from Villarreal.
A real coup. -

Re: Premier League Pre-Season and Summer Transfer Window Thread
Burton Albion 1-2 Aston Villa. Weir; Holness (og), Holman
Nice to see Holman scoring! Villa off to a good start and read that they played very well with a good passing and pressing game.
Borini has signed for Liverpool, which could mean Carroll off to West Ham as another target-man.
Tottenham could have a third 'in' with Adebayor's fee agreed.
Wigan need to start signing some good players to save themselves again this year. But Martinez is instead chasing Fraser Fyvie, a 19 year old from Aberdeen.
Anyone think Mick McCarthey could get another job in the Premier League next season?

Re: Premier League Pre-Season and Summer Transfer Window Thread
Reading are set to sign Mariappa from Watford http://www1.skysports.com/football/n...al-almost-done
Interesting that Reading are splashing the cash on players who are both proven - Pogrebyak, Shorey - to unproven - Mariappa and McCleary - to try and stay up. Definitely makes relegation this year more interesting as they were seen as a team to go down whereas now, it is definitely much harder to see a clear favourite to go down. -
Re: Premier League Pre-Season and Summer Transfer Window Thread70 grand a week for Rodallega is not good business(Original post by DH1')
