Re: How much do you trust people in general?
Never Trust anyone. They'll turn around and betray your trust, whether it's a secret or something more important. It's best to Trust no one. Believe me. The only person you can trust is yourself. If you want to let something out, go on to 4chan where no one knows you and spill your guts.

Re: How much do you trust people in general?
I generally lack the ability to trust anyone. Even my family have let me down in the past so my guard unfortunately is always up against everyone and everything.
I think it is best if we always keep our guard up because there so many untrustworthy people out there and it is literally impossible to truly find out if someone is trustworthy. Having said that, there are definitely trustworthy people out there, they are just rare. -
Re: How much do you trust people in general?
Pretty much everyone to varying degrees. I wouldn't give £1k to a complete stranger and "trust" them to give it back, but then there is a whole load of stuff I would trust them with.
And if you want to be pedantic, we all trust everyone to a certain degree anyway. For example, standing on a train station platform you are trusting the people behind you to not push you in front of the moving train! -
Re: How much do you trust people in general?
No one in my family would **** me over regardless of the situation, hasn't happened once in 24 years. I have maybe 3 or 4 friends in the whole world who I would expect the same from. I bet others would if push came to shove though.

Re: How much do you trust people in general?
I trust very few people, only a few of my friends and some of my family.
With people I meet, I will spend a long time distrusting them and being distant before they will even begin to gain my trust. This quality is viewed as anti-social by some, but hey, less people to betray me somehow.
Not always the case. I often stand with my back to a pillar in the subway and with my hands in my pocket, clutching my phone and wallet. I probably seem suspicious to a lot of the people there, but I haven't been robbed or thrown infront of a train yet, so yay me(Original post by callum9999)

Re: How much do you trust people in general?Thats more advice and too lazy to deal with it ourselves.(Original post by Philosoraptor)
I think most people trust people in authority (at least to some extent)
Have none of you reported a crime to a police officer ? Told something private to a doctor?.... -
Re: How much do you trust people in general?Well if I want to get really pedantic, unless you are pushed into a corner, you are trusting that someone won't sneak up behind you and stab you!(Original post by KasanDude)

Re: How much do you trust people in general?
About 20 yrs ago, before we had children, my wife and I were stood in the Blackpool funfair, the one were the Big One is now. We were stoodwatching the bumping cars and deciding weather or not to go on them when they stopped. A young (late teens) Indian couple were stood next to us chatting happily in their own language and when the cars stopped he was trying to get her to get on. She had a baby in her arms that was about 3 months old.
Suddenly she seemed to come to a decision, turned to my wife and smiling handed her the baby. She then got in a bumping car with her husband and the rides started. We were gobsmacked.
On the one hand we were terrified of the baby waking up and crying, but even more were amazed at the open trust shown by them to total strangers.
After the ride stopped they got off took the baby back, smiled and said thank you and then walked away.
Yes it was a stupid and naive thing to do but I cant tell you how privileged it felt to have so much trust shown in you by a stranger -
Re: How much do you trust people in general?
To many variables.
Someone I've just met, for example: I'll trust them indefinitely from the get-go, assuming they've given me no reason to doubt them in that minimal amount of contact. If all goes well, I will continue with the amount of trust I've given them thus far. If I notice something suspect, or they've given me impetus to 'bump them down a notch', then I'll do so immediately.
I'd imagine that's the m.o for most people.
