I'm quite fond of long jackets and coats, for example:

However, I'm kinda short (5' 6"). My partner is adamant that they only look good on tall/slim people and I wouldn't be able to pull them off. On the other hand, I wore a longish nehru collar jacket to a friend's wedding that was well received, but now I'm doubting myself.

Absolutely no problem I'd say I was fearing you'd mean those kind of tacky leather coats that go all the way to the ankles but with those length in my opinion you'll be just fine! I love longer coats

Hehe no, definitely not The Matrix stylee type coats, I'm not sure anyone pulls those off
