    What will that be?
Judging by the ad size (300px width), I'm guessing the fixed width will be 980px?

Why the change from fluid to fixed width? The new layout will take some getting used to..

I'm struggling to see fixed width as a positive...

I suppose it's nice that you'll have a consistent layout everywhere, but TSR is a site with the primary aim of letting people communicate with each other. In terms of being able to read large quantities of text, there is no way that large borders at the edge of the layout is a good thing...

I'll reserve judgement until I've used it a bit, but I have a feeling I'm going to have to write a greasemonkey script as a 'fix'

Edit: wait, do you mean the entire site will be fixed width or just the homepage? The latter could actually be nice (the former is what I'm whining about).

I have a 1440 width screen, and knowing the progress of technology these widths will only be increasing. Considering 16:9 widescreen seems to be becoming standard, it's an odd decision to be regressive. One of the best things about TSR was the fluid width, seems really strange to change that now.

At the very least add different fixed width options for users to choose?

Only the home page will be fixed width to start with. We would not be looking to remove the fluid width from the forum pages until they've seen some major overhaul, currently the way they're laid out makes them rather unsuitable for fixed width.

Generally though, narrow columns of text have been proven to be much more readable than wider ones, so a fixed width layout should improve readability, when it's done right.

Ugh, can't you make it any option to have fixed or fluid?
