HELP - Revisionary Literature/Rewritings of Classic texts ?

Can anyone think of any novels/texts that are rewritings of 'classic' texts or make significant use of intertextuality?

The only examples I can think of off the top of my head are:

- Margaret Atwoods' 'The Penelopiad' which offers an alternate POV of The Odyssey
- Jean Rhys' 'Wide Sargasso Sea' which is a rewriting of Jane Eyre

I'm particularly interested in ones rewritten in the POV of a female character but all suggestions will be very helpful!

Thanks in advance
