Fibula length longer than Femur ?
I came across a video showing a leg lengthening process where microfractures are created iin the lower leg so that the length increases ( i think ? ).

I was kinda curious as to what happens if the patient undergoing this treatment ends up with a longer TIBIA [bone in the lower leg] than the femur [the thigh bone]
    ?

What sort of disadvantage [or advantage] would the patient have ?

This is just out of curiousty !
    :sorry::sorry::sorry::sorry::sorry::sorry::sorry::sorry:

edit : I AM SO SORRY ! IT WAS THE TIBIA THAT THEY LENGHTHEN. i kinda got mixed up with the names.

don't you think it wolud be strange to have longer fibula .

i did check on Bolt , his femur and fibula are in the right proportions , meaning that his femur is longer than his fibula. ( i checked using pictures google )

I don't know the physics behind it, but if the Q angle (long axis of femur vs long tibia) remains the same, then there shouldn't be a problem, other than perhaps some muscle stretching. But they wouldn't just lengthen your fibula, they're probably do the tibia as well. Lengthening just your fibula makes no sense to be honest.

you are right about it not making sense with lengthening just the fibula, but i'm pretty sure all they lenthened was the fibula.

Considering the tibia is the weight bearing bone of the leg, lengthening the fibula doesn't make sense to me, unless I've missed something crucial. You can practically remove most of the middle part of the fibula with almost no disability.

Urm, i am short for my age, but to be honest i am not that bothered about my own height and never fuzzed about it.

this question was just out of curiosty , i mean if your forearm was longer than normal what difficulty would you have doing everyday things ?

edit : I AM SO SORRY ! IT WAS THE TIBIA THAT THEY LENGHTHEN. i kinda got mixed up with the names.

I think it said that the lengthening was up to three inches, but why not more ?

I don't know, but lengthening the fibula without lengthening the tibia doesn't make sense from an anatomical standpoint.

Hah, no worries. Lengthening the tibia makes more sense!
Obviously, the end result is dependent on good healing. There's always the chance of an infection or poor healing. Limbs could end up being different lengths if healing is incomplete in one leg. That would cause gait problems, and could lead to hip problems later in life. Plus there are neurovascular structures with little slack that risk being damaged.

Neither does lengthening the tibia and not the fibula
