There's a reason why some people like to call it 'the daily fail'.

I don't read it so I can't say categorically 'they clearly hate women!' but I definitely agree with you about that article in that they're being very harsh and nitpicky.

I think it's very sad that someone has actually sat down and taken the time to go through all her old photos and find ones of her smiling simply so that they can be nasty about her. In my opinion she sometimes looks a bit too thin but that's about it and she's always been beautiful.

I think the point the OP is making is precisely that misogyny in the media doesn't have to be conscious or deliberate to be real. The writer almost certainly doesn't think she's being misogynist, but she's part of a media culture where it's considered acceptable to judge women constantly on their appearance rather than on their achievements. I think it's pretty appalling that they've picked out the most unflattering pictures of Victoria Beckham smiling that they can find and then written all those snarky captions, many of which are pretty sexist in their own right:

"October 2001: David is not the only person who finds it funny when his wife tries her best to look normal. Many women would look more ecstatic to be Mrs Beckham"

"June 2007: Posh is asked to explain the offside rule. How should she know, she's only a footballer's wife"

"June 2012: She has a handsome husband, and a lovely baby daughter, what's not to (nearly) smile about?"

Again and again, she's defined solely in relation to her husband - she's "Mrs Beckham", or she's "only a footballer's wife". I think I find that just as bad as all the sniping about her looks, personally.

If people click on those stories to read them (typically women are the ones to do this, and look, the article's even written by a woman) then they encourage similar stories to be written. You yourself clicked it for whatever reason, exposing yourself to ads, and have now made everyone seeing this thread click it, driving up the ad count further. Guess what type of story is heading up the 'Highest revenue story of the day' ranking?

Sorry to sound harsh, but you're the moron for falling for this crap. They do it to make money and it works. You click it for what? I click it out of curiousity to see if it was as bad as you make out, but I wouldn't have clicked otherwise even if I had known the story existed. Your actions work against your principles, you're the one who can change things by not clicking the articles.
