    Complete The Square
    This is the question

    However the answer in the back of the book is (x-0.5)^2+1.25
    I don't know what I am doing wrong any ideas.

    You're right if the question is x^2-x+1

    Their answer seems to be for: x^2-x-1
    that wouldn't give +1.25 it would give -1.25

    You can check the answer yourself here:

    Expand (x-0.5)^2+1.25 and see what you get.

    That's a good point, my stupid mistake. Sign error.

    x^2-x+1.5

    the answer at the back is wrong . Your working out is 100% correct.
