Get an unconditional offer as long as I got a 2:1
Hi everyone,
I am waiting for my unconditional offer now. I have met the condition of my offer (a 2:1 degree). However, the only thing that I am worried about is that my aggregate final mark was 59 but because most of my modules' result were above 60% and I did well for the final project so I was still awarded a 2:1 degree. I am wondering if this will prevent me from obtaining a unconditional offer? Thanks! -
Re: Get an unconditional offer as long as I got a 2:1
It's not quite clear what you're applying for/talking about.. but no-one EVER asks for a transcript (which is disappointing, I'm really proud of mine!) so no-one will EVER know your mark, only your classification which is printed on your certificate. Stop worrying :P

Re: Get an unconditional offer as long as I got a 2:1The certificate has not yet been produced, only the transcript is available at this moment...(Original post by Pkysam)

Re: Get an unconditional offer as long as I got a 2:1This is the condition on my CONDITIONAL offer (Sorry about the confusion):(Original post by sliceofcake)
How is it an unconditional offer if it's dependant on your result?
This offer is subject to you achieving a first or upper second class honours in your current undergraduate degree programme. Please send a final transcript to us as soon as one becomes available. The transcript, or an official letter of award from your university, should confirm that you have satisfactorily completed all of the requirements for the award of the degree.Last edited by Pingispin; 11-07-2012 at 04:32. -

I know I might seem pedantic it's just you calling it an unconditional offer confused me -
Re: Get an unconditional offer as long as I got a 2:1The OP is waiting for his conditional to turn to an unconditional(Original post by sliceofcake)
So it's not unconditional. It's a conditional offer.

Re: Get an unconditional offer as long as I got a 2:1Ohh okay! Thank you for clearing that up(Original post by TenOfThem)
The OP is waiting for his conditional to turn to an unconditional -
Re: Get an unconditional offer as long as I got a 2:1Unless your offer actually specified a particular average (as some do), you've met your offer conditions. If you're worried that the university might just look at the overall average, you could try asking your departmental secretary to email them on your behalf to confirm that you will be awarded a 2.1, even though your average was below 60.(Original post by Pingispin)

Re: Get an unconditional offer as long as I got a 2:1Just to make this clear, this is a conditional offer. If in doubt, see the above condition... Meeting the conditions of a conditional offer doesn't suddenly make it an unconditional offer, as the offer still came with... that's right you guessed it... conditions!(Original post by Pingispin)

I do wonder about the quality of students today... -
Re: Get an unconditional offer as long as I got a 2:1The offer I have is a conditional offer and the condition is achieving a 2:1 degree. In order to get an unconditional offer, I need to send my transcript to the OP, then he/she will tick off the condition. No confusion here...(Original post by M1011)

I am just wondering that if they will reject me when they see my aggregate mark.. -
Re: Get an unconditional offer as long as I got a 2:1When they tick off that condition it doesn't suddenly transform in to a unconditional offer. It is a conditional offer where you have met the conditions. It's really not rocket science.(Original post by Pingispin)

I don't know about the mark to be perfectly honest. I guess it might depend on whether they are oversubscribed or not. I thought (perhaps wrongly) that postgrad courses often looked for high 2.1s, so a 59 might push it. Then again, if you're awarded a 2.1 then I guess that was the condition. -
Re: Get an unconditional offer as long as I got a 2:1
I got two unconditional offers, with a high 2.2, from two prestigious Russell Groups - in courses which specified entry standards of a 2.1 and made no mention of any other possibility. I also know other people who got 2.2s and are doing masters at Russell Groups. Depends on the course I'd imagine, but I think even some of the best universities are fairly lenient on 'near misses'.

Re: Get an unconditional offer as long as I got a 2:1Confusingly unis like to call these unconditionals. Once I'd met the conditions for my offer and sent proof, my uni sent another offer saying now the offer was unconditional.(Original post by M1011)

Re: Get an unconditional offer as long as I got a 2:1Everytime I've had to show proof of my undergraduate degree and now my postgrad degree I've been asked to provide transcripts, no university I have dealt with so far will accept only a certificate. In fact the paperwork I got with my transcript and certificate actually state that the certificate is not proof of the degree, only my transcript is.(Original post by Pkysam)

With regards to the original question. If the offer states II.1 then that's what the offer is, if the offer had stated that you needed to get at least 60% than that would be a different offer. So congratulations, you have met your offer!!! In any case I think even if they had given you an offer of 60%, getting 50% is very close and some discretion would probably be used. -
Re: Get an unconditional offer as long as I got a 2:1Really? And it's a UK degree? I've never been asked for transcript, either for academic reasons or job reasons, only the certificate is ever checked. Were they actually interested in your score in specific modules? May I ask which university the certificate is from, only because I've never known a degree certificate that said it wasn't proof of the degree?(Original post by pipsi)

Re: Get an unconditional offer as long as I got a 2:1Thank you! I am still waiting for a reply. Hopefully I will get accepted.(Original post by pipsi)
