Maybe they have told your internet provider of possible illegal activity, which can result in a letter with a formal warning of your internet activity.

Haha no it's got nothing to do with illegal downloading or anything.

I just got banned from a forum and the comment was 'ISP informed', I just wondered what it entailed. I expect a letter from my service provider then? What are the horror stories surrounding this? Has anything worse happened?

It probably constitutes a violation of the terms of your contract if you have been using your ISP's network to harass people, for example, but because it's a non-legal request there won't be any ramifications; the most you will get is a warning, and that is unlikely in itself.

It means your ISP (internet service provider) has been informed about something you've done. Only you'll know what it is - upgrading your ISP or more likely, downloading some dodgy porn!
