Re: What websites do you use to get free live news feeds when day trading?subscribe to who? FT, economist?(Original post by President_Ben)
Twitter won't be too bad. -
Re: What websites do you use to get free live news feeds when day trading?I have a feeling you didn't start day-trading on your own, but actually started a relatively expensive course at a prop-house.(Original post by goku90)
EUR/USD and s&p emini futures -
Re: What websites do you use to get free live news feeds when day trading? What broker do you use? Do they not have an insight/news type feature you can run in the background?(Original post by goku90)
EUR/USD and s&p emini futures
On twitter you will slowly build up your list of people/sources to follow, there are some good sources on there. But you have to remember to not trade on other people's opinions. This includes individual journalists, other traders, news organisations (Reuters/Sky News/FT etc.)
You referred to 'day trading' which suggests the Economist probably isn't going to be helpful for you.
http://www.fxstreet.com/fundamental/economic-calendar/ <- this is good, it releases economic data within seconds/minutes. The red/yellow exclamation marks next to it tell you how much volatility is expected from the move. So stuff like GDP figures, central bank interest rates, inflation, employment figures, central bank 'easing' (read: theft) etc. is all covered and helps you get in on the big moves. -

There's some list you can google of people on twitter who are basically just replicating headlines from Reuters/Bberg professional terminals. You drop maybe 30 seconds to 'live'.
For predictable news, that's no good (in fact, anything over a second is miserably slow) but for an unexpected event - it's not too bad I suppose. -
Re: What websites do you use to get free live news feeds when day trading?Yeh, all you need is fx street really and watch out for what time news is supposed to be released throughout the day. I normally trade out of any positions if news is about to come... unless you have got no stops and can ride the wave.... Most traders close out too and you will actually see the currency pair get less volatile in the hour and minutes leading to the news (depending on the importance).(Original post by goku90)
EUR/USD and s&p emini futures
All in all, dont try and be a hero and trade the news if you are just about starting to daytrade. good luck
ps. Keep bloomberg tv on a tab just for breaking newsLast edited by PrincePauper; 11-07-2012 at 11:37. -
Re: What websites do you use to get free live news feeds when day trading?Lol, yeah. Incredibly easy to get into, incredibly easy to lose money as well!(Original post by PrincePauper)

ZH is good. But again, I don't see how these commentators would help a day trader, except for maybe keeping up with what is going on in the market.(Original post by President_Ben)

Where do you find this list of twitter feeds that share bloomberg/reuters information? I can't find any. -

Re: What websites do you use to get free live news feeds when day trading?Im sure he doesnt just trade that pair. That was just an example. He is day trading and if he limits himself to just one pair he will be lucky to make 3 good trades max on a not so volatile day, depending on his trading methods/rules.(Original post by TomasK)

Re: What websites do you use to get free live news feeds when day trading?Depends how short is the time-frame he's trading, because even 'day-trading' is a bit vague.(Original post by PrincePauper)
