Help An NTU Hopeful?
Is there anybody who is blogging about their experience at Nottingham Trent, or anybody who is willing to answer all my questions about your college experience there? At the moment, Nottingham Trent is my 1st pick college, but I'd like to get the unedited look at college life. I find the students' points of view to be of more value than what's on the school's website when it comes to choosing the right university.
Please let me know if any of you would be willing to let me pester you with questions about NTU.
Thank you! -

Just finished my course there, hoping to return in September for a masters degree. Fire away with the questions.
Do you remember about what month it was that you first applied to NTU? And what month you got a response?
Also, do you think international students like myself would have to apply sooner? -
Re: Help An NTU Hopeful?I sent my application a while before the deadline - think it was around early December time. From what I remember, I got made a conditional offer in about February. They were fairly prompt with replying.(Original post by NTUHopeful)
Thank you so much!

The sooner the better, is what I would say. But as long as you apply before the deadline you should be fine. -

Also, which accommodations would you recommend? Do you happen to know which ones tend to have more freshman? -
Re: Help An NTU Hopeful?I was in Hampden Hall in my first year and enjoyed it a lot, it's shared facilities, but ony 6 people per flat and 3 bathrooms, so you only really share a bathroom with one other person. It's the cheapest one, too.(Original post by NTUHopeful)
Thank you!

All of the university advertised halls are generally only available to freshers, so any of the ones like Hampden Hall, Sandby Hall, Gill Street, Meredian Court etc. are all full of freshers.
Private halls like Victoria Square, Trinity Square,Glasshouse and others will have more of a mix. -

Also, I heard Hampden and Sandby were party houses? Is that true? -
Re: Help An NTU Hopeful? In what way do you mean party houses? In any residence with freshers, there will inevitably be a lot of noise and parties.(Original post by NTUHopeful)
Alright, thank you!

Re: Help An NTU Hopeful?True. I was just asking because in another forum I was reading, someone said that they were the 'party halls'. They didn't explain what that meant exactly. Sorry, nevermind.(Original post by thecrimsonidol)

I read that NTU was internationally recognized for its English courses, among others, but then saw that the school was fairly low-ranked overall. Do you know why this is? -
Re: Help An NTU Hopeful?League ables are based on an average between all schools and departments within the university, so if one department doensn't do as well, it drags the overall grade down, even if other areas (Like Law or English) so well.(Original post by NTUHopeful)

I think your choice of uni should be based on the course itself, the university and the area, son't worry too much about league tables. -
Re: Help An NTU Hopeful?Oh okay, thank you.(Original post by thecrimsonidol)

And if you don't mind me asking you one last question,
what do you think of the city itself? Is there a lot to do in Nottingham besides schooling? -
Re: Help An NTU Hopeful?I love the city, i consider it my home now. I'm staying here for my masters degree and hoping to stay in the area/city adterwards. There are lots of clubs/pubs/shops/venues/events and things going on. I honestly have loved it.(Original post by NTUHopeful)
