I feel the EXACT same. The Chris Moyles Show has been a part of my morning routine for 6 years now and the team do a great job of helping me wake up properly in a good mood. Yeah the humor is childish sometimes but thats what my brain needs in the morning when driving into work, people look at me in their cars as if they're thinking "what on earth has she got on the radio to make her laugh and smile so much as this ungodly hour of the morning?". You'd be hard pressed to find a team as great as these guys - they make talk radio seem effortless.

God knows what station Im going to end up listening to of a morning from September. Im dreading it already
I feel exactly this! If it isn't for the Chris Moyles show I would be in such a grumpy state each morning - he always seems to put a smile on my face whatever he's talking about. Its going to be a tough role for Nick Grimshaw in September.

I'm just glad that Chris Moyles is leaving. Bringing in a younger presenter doesn't mean Radio 1 is duming down, it just means it's aiming at a younger audience, which afterall is what the show station should be aiming at. The BBC has an obligation to cater for youths on the PSB remit. All tax payers pay a license fee.

I suppose it is the end of an era, when I was younger waking up to the radio does remind me of sunny summer mornings where my biggest worry was that Jenny from the block might not fancy me back.

I do still go through the odd phase of listening to CM in the mornings. It's obviously wall-to-wall waffle and he's a premier league dickhead, but it is a lively atmosphere in there and even with my elementary understanding of radio it seems clear that a solitary morning presenter might be a bit awkward.

As to dumbing down, however, it's probably just your age getting the better of you. Chris Moyles was always dumb and Nick Grimshaw can't possibly be dumber, so ... also CM is far too old, nobody wants some fat beardy bloke old enough to be your dad bawling at them from the bedside table at 6:30 in the morning.

Apparently 6Music is where it's at these days, ought to put that on sometime.

I'm glad I'll never have to hear Comedy Dave's nasally voice in the morning ever again.

Bring back Mark and Lard I say.

I hate Scott Mills, hes an absolute tit. I used to listen to Chris Moyles on the way to school, I used to love Rob DJs pub quiz (not sure if that still exists...)

The joy I felt when I heard that Chris Moyles was leaving He's a **** of the highest order, and actually angers me when I listen to him....and this is coming from someone who used to love listening to him back when he was on in the afternoon-evenings.

He used to be good, then he started to love his own voice too much then moved to the breakfast show and it just all went downhill from there. The rest of his team are fantastic (Comedy Dave should have his own show) but he just grains me.

Weird thing is that since he made the announcement, I've found his show bearable and have been listening - he is definitely playing more music and not stuck up his own arse as much lately. Why? Because he's not acting up to get listeners, he's actually being a bit more relaxed and himself. Finally.

Anyway, it should be Sara Cox on the breakfast show - THEY were good times (And Scott Mills should be back on drivetime, I'd be a happy man then!)

Grimmy isn't too bad though, Radio 1 have just gained a morning listener....but lost an evening listener as I hate Greg James

From my limited experience of Radio 1, it sounds like they're dumbing down to a dumber audience.

I purely listen to Radio 1 to be in the know in terms of charting music. I find everything else a bit silly. I don't mind Pete Tong though.
Out of interest why do you want to be in the know in terms of charting music? Just wondering more than anything.

Pete Tong is good. Radio 1 is still quality, but you got to listen to the right shows. Essential Mixes which Radio 1 are awesome for example.

Radio 1 is something i listened to in the morning when i was up to the age of 16. After that i realised the music played on there sucked mostly, and it's boring, aimed at a younger audience, which was fairly childish in terms of banter on there.. I don't see what the OP is particularly on about, yet again i don't know which one Nick Grimshaw is...

Just to have a clue in hell of what comes on in clubs during nights out really! Nowadays I only really enjoy listening to R1 after 8pm at weekends, basically for Pete Tong or Annie Mac. I like house/trance music. For rock I usually listen to Radio 2 or 6 Music. Not a fan of the likes of Fearne Cotton and co so avoid her and the like if I can.

I can't help but feel this morning's announcement that Chris Moyles is being replaced on the breakfast show by Nick Grimshaw is yet another reflection of Radio 1 dumbing down for a younger audience.

In 2009, a review showed that this needed to be done to attract more listeners aged between 15-29. I think they have far surpassed that, and narrowed the bracket down to 15-17. Just listen to Greg James' new drive time show, and you'll find an array of trivial bull****, such as a dozen people phoning in singing 'I'm [insert name here] and I'm driving home!'. It's really unfunny. Scott Mills' show used to be just as 'silly', yet it was witty, took you by surprise and you could actually LOL at it. But in recent years, I'm no longer laughing as much as I did when I listened to him

Listening to newsbeat as well, you'd think the only things going on in the UK are youth employment and STIs, which fair enough appeals to the target audience, but it really is dumbed down in a way that a 5-year old could understand.

I remember when I began listening to Radio 1 when I was 14, I suddenly felt grown up. It introduced me to popular music and the things Scott Mills used to do my friends and I would talk and laugh about the next day at school. If I were 14 now I don't think I'd feel the same about it. I don't think Greg James incessant attempts at being a 'lad' would entertain me, and I can't think I'd appreciate Jessie J and David Guetta being played twice on every show.

Perhaps it is me that has changed in those six years, my music tastes have obviously developed since then, but at 20 years old I don't quite feel ready to turn on Radio 2.

    Anyone with me on this?
Radio 1 has always been pretty juvenile. I was listening to "Steve Wright in the Afternoon", Dave Lee Travis (aka "The Hairy Cornflake") Simon Bates, Gary Davis and others throughout the 80's and it wasn't eaxctly high brow. The Radio One Road Shows (from ghastly places like Weston Supermare) were practically designed for 14 - 24 year olds - and thick ones at that! Have to say I absolutely loved R1 during that period. Those DJ's had me in stitches all day.

It is what it is. If you don't like it try R2 or R4 if you prefer the shipping forecasts!

I like listening to Dermot O'Leary on Radio 2.
I used to love Alan & Mel on Radio 2 as well until it ended.
