Actually, even in our own universe, there's at least one or two places that could easily have similar if not the same conditions as earth. If mars was just a few degrees warmer, the frozen CO2 in the poles would melt and the atmosphere would have the same pressure as the tip of everest (wikipedia). Even without this, scientists have found that a type of plankton could thrive in the current martian conditions. I also think that jupiter's atmosphere could be theoretically suitable for a floating city (again, wikipedia).
Point is, with decent candidates in our close proximity, and such a massive amount of other systems in the cosmos, I think based on statistics alone some kind of organisms have to live somewhere out there.
